*Curtsies* Thank you, Philly. And... yes we all do know about sacrifice in some form or another... but have you noticed how we almost NEVER sacrifice our dreams? There have been times when they may have had to be postponed... or delayed in reaching them.... but we almost never sacrifice our dreams... not unless we go kicking and screaming whilst we do it. *kotc* I'm glad you liked it.

I have found that the sacrifice of dreams comes on the heels of the most dire OR the most noble of situations. Sometimes we aret even aware until later in life what our dreams are. Good friends make it posible to pursue those dreams and a great love makes them attainable.

Yes Philly.... you're quite right. The most dire or the most noble of circumstances/situations does make one re-adjust or re-evaluate just what those dreams may be.

And a great love most definitely makes them attainable. Touche! :)

I've found that sometimes the most noble circumstances are a result of the most dire....they're often interchangable, it seems.

Nice writing, Victoria....simple, yet well spoken. :rose:

Thank you Wyld. Interesting... I'd never thought of dire and noble as being interchangable until now... but you're right. One can lead to the other... very true. *Places the rose into the vase that sits upon her desk*

Today

A child sits and weeps today
My Daddy's gone forever
Just one of many victims
upon this day of terror

A mother stares off into space
her heart and soul in shreds
they took away her only child
upon this day of terror

A father listens in despair
when told his child was there
another life torn apart
upon this day of terror

A sister cries into the night
tears falling down unchecked
questions screaming in her mind
upon this day of terror

A brother walks alone
his best friend gone forever
Another loving family hurt
upon this day of terror

The reasons for this pain
the cause of all the sorrow
A craven bomb attack
upon this day of terror.

In memory of all who lost thier lives 7/7/05 :rose:

Azure, dear....
My heart goes out to you and to the other Londoners. I was in London 20 yrs ago this month, and was stunned when I saw the news. Nothing brings the terror home like the living of it... and I am deeply saddened that you, and others have had this horror brought to your 'home'.

This is a lovely piece... telling of five different families that have been torn open by such a cowardly act.... the numbness as reaction sets in.... and the rending apart of families... caught totally unprepared for loss.

I do so hope that no one you know, or love, was touched or lost by this senseless need to still, or stop completely, yet another city's heartbeat. {{{{Azure}}}}

Hi Victoria :rose: I was one of the lucky ones, nobody I know and love was in London. I feel so very sorry for those that were caught up in such an act of senseless violence, innocents just going about their usual daily lives. How anyone can have such a lack of compassion for thier fellow human beings is beyond me.

*Places the rose nearby* I'm so relieved to hear that Azure.

I have friends who live in or near High Wycombe, in Reading, and in Hastings, and in various points further north and east... I am praying that they weren't touched by this horrific tragedy, this senseless violence... this act of cowardism... ripping through the fabric of innocents and their lives.

Has it come out yet as to which group is/groups are claiming responsibility? I can't believe... don't believe... refuse to believe... that this act had been, or was, sanctioned by Allah or any other name one wishes to call the one to whom they pray.

Am I correct in understanding that the bombs were on the Yellow (Circle) Line? Was it the only one affected? Garring Cross was one stop I know of.

UNfortunately, r/l has chosen the last two days of last week (Thursday and Friday) following the attack Thursday morning to keep me out of the house for both those days. I haven't been able to follow the news as I'd have liked.

Contact me privately if you wish... I'd love to hear from you. :rose:

Baby do you love me?
Just a simple yes or no
Do you feel it in your heart
That's all I want to know.

Do you feel it deeply
Down inside your soul
Do you ever get the feeling
you're going to lose control

Do you always smile
When you see a certain thing
And does your stomach jump
And your ears begin to ring

Do you find it difficult
Just to say good night
Because something deep inside you
Is ready to ignite

Can you always feel it
When someone is right there
And do you feel the need
To show how much you care

Do you need to shout it
From every mountain top
Just how much you feel
And that it will never stop

Do you want that sweet caress
That kiss, so deep and long
And do you want to have that dance
To a very special song

Do you long to have that touch
To feel the warmth of hands
To feel the pressing of bodies
And knowing what they demand

Do you feel just like a kid
Inside a candy store
Having all you dreamed of
And always wanting more

If you can answer yes
To everything that's true
Then you know just how I feel
When I am not with you.

Changes

I saw the sun set today.
It’s beautiful colors cascading the evening sky.
as the sun lowered,
I watched with amazement as the colors
And the sky it self had changed.
So different, yet just as beautiful
A different shade of orange or purple
The clouds subtly change places and shapes
And as each moment passed I watch how slowly
And how subtle the changes were.
The clouds were always moving and changing,
The colors moving from one shade to the next .
It was beautiful to watch.
I was distracted from the beauty for only a moment.
The changes that occurred were no longer subtle and amazing
It was abrupt, as if looking at a different sky
Maybe a different day
Either way, the moment was gone I was not one with the sky
Yes the sunset was still beautiful
But the distraction took something away
I turned for just a moment and I was no
Longer part of the sky and it’s slow moving
Dance across the sky.
I tried to get the moment back, but it was different
The warm feeling I felt was missing.
This was a new dance that started in a different place.
As a sat and watched the sunset slide into
The darkness, I felt as if I had been here before.
And then I thought of YOU...

Dont you see
What you mean to me
Your beauty sings a song to rival the celestial angels
Your voice can make a robin weep with joy
Your smile can light up the countryside
Your touch set my mind and body on fire
Your presence makes my heart sweet with pride and joy
You here with me... means I can sleep in peace

Another nice one Philly...keep it up guy... :rose:

Deepest Apologies to all today:

I'm sorry my dears, but I won't be at the Corner today. R/L has decided to take a bite out. . . and some ne'r-do-well's or those of a more nefarious nature, have broken into my son's vehicle and messed about on the inside of it; almost managing to steal the speakers to his stereo system. We have our ideas as to whom may be behind it. So, I will be busy elsewhere today and unable to comment on your writings until either later today or tomorrow. *sighs heavily*

Sincerely,

Victoria :rose:

:rose: ...a beautiful poem AD...it really touches a place where to many hearts have been of late...

A lifetime filled with cheating hearts,
all echo from my past.
The " Promise Trues' and " I love you's",
each one was meant to last.
So fine was this line of sharing,
built with honesty and trust.
Each vow now left inside my head,
to slowly gather dust.

I struggle to tomorrow,
Searching hope, yet walking blind.
While broken dreams and silent screams,
play re-runs in my mind.
I try to shake each past mistake,
and meet what lies ahead.
While hearing cold reminders of
these promises ones said.

It's hard to feel what's wrong from real,
when shadows dim the light.
I close my eyes and dream a dream
of heaven every night.
It's all I know, this history,
A hidden guiding hand?
These scars, I show, A lesson that
I yet don't understand?

Another day awaits me
In this life I call my own.
A cruel delay frustrates me,
as i face this world alone.
Let words once said and tears long shed,
rest peaceful in this heart.
I know the pain of love in vain,
will always play it's part.

With open arms I welcome such
new dreams as may arise,
I only pray to find one day,
a love... without goodbyes.

Alone

Again today I awake alone in the silence of my darkened world
Fire for you still burns deeply with in my heart and soul
Our love once so pure so unconditional
Faded only to a figment of one’s imagination
Alone did I never want to be
For my prayer to the Lord above
Let this love we share grow strong and prosper
Your love for me was all that was needed
And for a time we lived a love that was like no other
We shared a life of joy and happiness
Alone in darkness I now realize that it was you
That made my life complete
In my arms would you so tenderly sleep
In the silence of the darkness I would lie awake
Lost in the rhythm of your breathing
God please let this moment never end
That was my prayer
But in time your love for me faded
No longer did your eyes sparkle for me
No longer could I find the way to make your laughter start
No longer did your arms shelter me from the cold
And in the silence of the darkness so tenderly did you take your love away from me
I now awake each day to only find that life is no longer complete
For in the darkness of my world alone I am.
