lush

I have submitted one story to Lush Stories and as soon as it was published, I pulled it. Their "moderators" changed my story to something that was far different than what I originally wrote, and didn't even give me the courtesy of letting me approve what they did. They just published their "edited" version under my name. It may have changed since that time, but I won't go back.

Won't be doing that. I did put up a story, but it hasn't been reviewed yet. I thought I'd killed my account, but hadn't. If they don't put up the 750-story from last year's challenge, I will figure out how to kill it. I have pictures on there, didn't realize they were still up, and now it won't let me take them down unless I pay to. If the only way to get them off the site is cancel my membership, I do that.
Gods damn... they charge for that, too‽

Reminds me of an old localized Mojo site we used to have here. It happened to be the last one left, the owner had the bright idea to make it into a dating site, and shifted the free and Inner Circle account permissions. The most you could do on a free account was edit your profile, and look at the forums. Women got automatic Inner Circle. He thought he would make money, except in the four years or so, it was reduced to about around twenty members, in the biggest city in Ky. Took him about fours to realize the fail, changed the site back, and I was one of about eight active members. It never recovered.
I've heard people on Reddit and Twitter complain about Lush having voluntary moderators who made edits to people's stories without asking. For me personally, that's an automatic deal breaker, so I've never considered sharing a story on there. I want full control over my story and if there's something wrong with it, I rather they just send it back and say 'fix this'
They do both. If it's minor, they'll fix it, which is probably more out of their own convenience, because there are many of them, and they are so swamped with almost as many submissions as Laurel. I've had a tad of trouble with them, I chocked it up as their standards are higher than here, and it'll make me a better writer. I do sometimes wonder what they're standards are. Just about everything I have here, is there, sans the 750s. Most of it was here first. I got a story that's written no different, than my others, other than plot, etc, sent back three times. I sent it to my laptop to really look at it, ain't got around to it yet. I told the mod on the third time I didn't believe them.

For those of you who like to know who you’re dealing with, modern online services can be rather opaque. Frequently there are no names, no email, hidden DNS registrant details, just a ‘contact us’ web form that tries to divert you towards the FAQ page. Storiesonline.net and Lushstories.com are both like this.

Storiesonline.net is being hosted by OVHcloud (French) from a server in Reston, VA (USA).

Storiesonline has a number of sister-sites (like storyroom.com and scifistories.com) that are under the umbrella of “World Literature Publishing Company” in Ottawa, Canada, run by Lazeez Jiddan. There doesn’t seem to be any particular enthusiasm for erotic stories at WLPC, it’s just another category of literature to leverage.

As best as I can tell, Lushstories.com is US based but only because it cites US laws in their Terms & Conditions and has Cloudflare hosting. Although, two of their administrators and the ‘global moderator’ profiles are tagged with a “United Kingdom” location.

Erotxt.me partly reveals their locality, stating “erotxt is operated from within the European Union” and compliant with GDPR data protection laws. It is currently being developed/run by a single operator (with the user id “Baedi”).

Supporting US sites is unpalatable to me at the moment. So the EU looks appealing for my future publishing… at least until my brother penguins on the Heard and McDonald Islands launch an erotica site.🐧✊
