The squirrel lately chased by a new wolfling who hasn't learned that squirrels are almost uncatchable by earthbound creatures chittered in the ash in which Linden sheltered, waking her and expressing its outrage at the wolfling's boldness.

She quieted the squirrel, reminding her that the wolfling was a young thing, and would soon learn better.

Stepping out of the tree, she approached the cabin, and heard voices within. Knocking, she stepped back from the door, wondering if anyone would hear and gazing at the beautiful grain of the door's wood.
