Lsu Tigers -- National Champs!

Forgive me this, Hoo-ray.

My alma mater, Louisiana State University, aka the LSU Tigers, just won its first national championhip in American college football since 1959 by beating the team ranked number one in the nation all season, the University of Oklahoma Sooners, 21-14 in the Sugar Bowl.

I realize this means next to nothing to non-sports fans and folks from the old country. But in a relatively small state that's nuts about football it's a very big deal.

I'll take my LSU Ben-gal off my AV in a day or two. For the time being, let her celebrate.

I was pulling for them, even though my brothers were hoping the sooners would win. Not because they like the sooners, but as Miss. State fans they just knew you Cajuns would be insufferable next season as defending antional Champs

Grats Rumple, enjoy th emoment to it's fullest. It's rare that you can bask in the reflected glory of your favorite team being champion in any sport

Being a grad school graduate of USC, root for SC of course.

Strength of schedule, etc make USC the senior national champion!

MG & mtnman, USC v LSU would be a fun game. But since that can't happen, IMHO, both teams deserve a share of the title. BB

I personally detest the whole BCS thing, but am VERY grateful your team won. I love the AV! Sure beats the hell out of whatever they would come up with for a Trojan or a Sooner <G>

As a sports writer, I've always had a dream headline. Imagine the University of Georgia Bulldogs have a basketball player whose last name is Dick. The team is playing USC. At the buzzer, he hits a jumper to win the game. The headline would read:

DAWGS DICK BUSTS TROJANS

It hasn't happened yet, but a guy can dream.
