Yes 85 known dead but the US press is quiet!

US Papers Bury News of US Killing of 85 Syrian Civilians

Killing indiscriminately is horrid, but not when the Pentagon does it?

A coalition airstrike reported on Tuesday that killed at least 85 Syrian civilians -- one more than died in the Nice attack in France last week -- wasn't featured at all on the front pages of two of the top US national newspapers, the New York Times and LA Times, and only merited brief blurbs on the front pages of the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post, with the actual stories buried on pages A-16 and A-15, respectively.

According to the London Telegraph (7/19/16), the airstrike killed "more than 85 civilians" after the "coalition mistook them for Islamic State fighters." Eight families were represented among the dead, with victims "as young as three." The Intercept (7/19/16) reported the death toll could end up being well over 100.

Will Obama try to soothe the feelings of those who mourn the loss of life, or will he shrug it off as an error and keep bombing the innocent because he is the Lord and Master of the Universe!

Considering Russia is deliberately bombing schools, hospitals and markets full of civilians in Aleppo, Syria, not to mention Syria dropping barrel bombs indiscriminately in civilian areas, your whining rings hollow.

someone has a point there Jack. Post sounding kind of NEMish with it's hatred of Obama. Civilians die all the time in wars. Modern wars they typically out number the dead combatants.

Decrying dead civilians is very noble but tone down the rhetoric a tad. There is no deliberate targeting of civilians to inflict terror or break their will to resist. It's just plain old collateral damage. As heartless as that sounds.

What alternative would you suggest? Boots on the ground? Withdraw? Boots on the ground: are you ready to go or in the instance you can't are you ready to send your son or daughter in your place? Withdraw: so we should walk out and leave the mess we made? Allow what ever group is the strongest to fill the vacuum left by our retreat? Allow them to kill and torture at their leisure? If not one of those two, what other suggestions do you have? It's never acceptable to tell someone they are doing it wrong if you don't have a suggestion on how to do it otherwise.

Does it make any difference if "the other guys do it too?" Does it make any difference if they are just foreign wogs? Does it make a difference if you are not in your own country and no one ask you to 'help?" Does it make any difference if there is no Declaration of War and no National Mobilization?

America was founded on principles, yet those are ignored when "The Most Powerful Man in The World!" decides that someone must die. And yet is is against the law to just shoot Dick Chaney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the rest of the Neo-Con assholes who really need to be removed from the earth for the good of mankind. No! "We must look forward not Back."

Our Peace President stands before us and shakes his head at the dead police and black kids and calls it horrid that mankind has fallen so low. Yet he does not have clean hands, calling down Hellfire on half the world, just because they don't acquiesce to our sticking explosive noses in their business.

The reason we have police shootings (both ways) is that our leaders have led us into the dark canyon of barbarity. They have set the example and others are following. It make the idea that "America is a civilized country" laughable.

The Pentagon is calling for another $200 million to counter ISIS drones in Iraq, I say that that money would be better spent on Headstart, or free tuition or after school programs for inner city youth. Let the Saudis and the Israelis sort out the Middle east and keep our war mongering Establishment on a very tight leash!

My suggestion is to send "W", Cheney and the rest of the Neo-Con mafia to the Hague, and Obama too, Joe can cover his remaining tenure. Put pressure on our "Gallant Allies", especially Turkey, to end the market in ISIS Oil, start tightening the noose on ISIS finances, cut a deal with Russians to help us shut down the Arms Trade and focus our attention on the mess in America.

There is no way we can reset Iraq, only the Iraqis can do that with the help of their neighbors. If that means Iran has to help the Iraqis clean up the ISIS mess, okay, it's their part of the world.

What utter tosh. Is there any absurd western propaganda you won't fall for?

Stop trying to overthrow the Syrian government?

Stop waging wars abroad?

Go home and fix your own country and stop raping others?

Just a couple off the top of my head.
