okay... so i recently got off anti-depressants, and it seems like ever since, my libido just isn't what it used to be. does anyone have any suggestions to make it go up? i'm only 20, and miss being my horny, love to fuck, self...

Is it possible there's some residual depression that's affecting your libido?

How about other factors in your life such as stress, sleep, diet, exercise, your relationship, etc.?

this happened to me when i quit nicotine... i'd suspect that the bulk of your issue is with the change in your body chemistry, as was suggested in my case. naturally, we're talking about two entirely different situations but i think the body chemistry thing still applies here.

give yourself a while to adjust... there's no specific time, just hurry up and wait sorta thing. and if you're REALLY concerned, check with the doc who prescribed them initially and/or with the drug manufacturer. if it's happened to you, i'm sure someone else has already experienced it and discussed it with their health care professional.

Don't be embarassed to talk to your doctor/therapist about this. It's a serious enough question. That's what the doctors are there for... to figure out if something is wrong with you, and fix it if it is. Honestly my experience was that with the anti-depressants my sex drive was lower, opposite of what you're describing, so my usual speel is lost ; )

But seriously, bring it up with the doc.

I've been on anti-depressants too and it affected me the same .It takes a while for the old body to get back to normal. Wish you well.

I too have dealth with this and my suggestion is to get some exercise and make sure you have exposure to significant light. Exercise will help to replace the seratonin that the anti-depressent was elevating. Lighting I have also found makes a major difference in my mood. Without enough sunlight or a good lamp I find I become sluggish. Good luck to you. I know this is very challenging.

wait it out

just wait it out, ive been on and off anti depressants too, and your body is just trying to get use to not having the chemicals from the anti depressants floating around in your blood stream, once everything starts balancing out again im sure your libito will come back.

you could have a low estrogen level, which could easily be resolved with a cream. See your GYN or midwife.

How long ago did you go off the anti-depressants? How long were you on them?

Talk to your doctor when you go in a couple of weeks, and you two can talk about possible causes and decide on a proper course of action. Yes, there are things that can help hormonal imbalances, but you're getting WAY ahead of yourself.

I've never used it myself, but your GYN/midwife will be able to tell you more. If should be covered by insurance.
