A quick question...

Does anyone post Lovecraftian fiction here? And if so, does anyone read it or leave constructive feedback on it???

I swear I've read a Lovecraftian sort of Halloween thing in one of the contests. Maybe more than one. Several years back now, though, and I'd have to dig for the link...

H.P. Lovecraft

Cthulhu. Great big ancient gods around before the beginning of time, stuck in some interdimensional sleep waiting to awaken to devour the world and return it to its dark, pristine state.

Lots of tentacles.

I can't recall seeing any.

witch fire? There was a horror/fantasy author by the name of H. P. Lovecraft.

He created a genre of fiction known as The Cthulhu Mythos. A major departure at the time from the other genres of fantasy and horror.

Just about every author in existence has penned a story in the Mythos. Even Stephen King did one.

Okay gotcha. I definately think i read something along those lines a few years back, in the non-human section.

Gotta love the tentacles! And the inherently futile nature of life in a cold, vast & uncaring universe!

Well, I've posted the first one under the title "Dinner Date"...just have to wait and see if anyone does actually read it...it's abit different to the stuff I've posted previously as it's more than a little dark...

I've only seen one light hearted Cthulhu Mythos story. Roger Zelazny's A Night In The Lonesome October. It's very good. How can you not love a book told from the POV of Jack The Ripper's watchdog as they try to save the world? :D

Here's the one I remember:

3 Haskell Street

Its follow up:

Return to Haskell Street

Here's more:

The Thing in the Basement

Notebook Found in a Dirty House
The Octopus

A Friend in Need is non-erotic.

I'm not a Lovecraft fan, but my hubby LOVES it. I can't tell you how many Lovecraftian movies I've endured...er...watched.

ETA: found more...

Saturday Night Dance
Great One's Touch
I Wish You Were Here
The Sad Demise of H. Hattlefield

And, lets not forget the black and white silent movie masterpiece of "The Call of Cthulhu" as produced by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society! Truly a fantastic piece of celluloid - however, I'd wager that my stuff is more Cthulhu Now rather than the 1920s/30s era...

LOL

My husband said, "I'll see you at the meeting." :D

Have you seen the CSM?

Who knew!?!?

ETA: You should post a link to your story in your signature. ;)

Seriously, for a story that's widely been quoted as "unfilmable" I thought it was pretty spot on...roll on The Whisperer In Darkness!!

Oh man, I'm getting all HPL Geeky now! :)

Once the story is approved I'll pop a link in here - it's in the non-erotic category & there are several follow ups that I did for a now-defunct Yahoo group.

But...Cthulhu Sex Magazine? No wonder it closed in 2007!! I mean, it's bad enough trying to pronounce his name, let alone get involved in pillow talk with the eldritch horror... :)

I like tentacles and monster domination enough to write a pair of Halloween stories but they are only minimally dark. I don't want my characters devoured, just taken over with lust and depravity . . . and gotten pregnant, of course.

Tentacle sex is safe sex! Learn it, live it, love it!
