Love Song or Stalker Song???

I've always wondered... is "I'll Be Watching You" by The Police a love song, or a stalker type song?

According to Sting, it's a stalker song.

He said on an episode of VH-1's "Behind the Music" that couples come up to him all the time and tell him that they got married to that song and it freaks him out because it's a stalker song.

In an interview with Sting, he indicated it was intended as a stalker song. He mentioned that people tell him that it was their wedding song and that disturbs him greatly.

He said it was a song of possesive jealousy that people misunderstood, so he wrote "If you love somebody, set them free". as an antidote, or a proper model.

That was the thrust of an interview when he released "If you love..."
