I've had a love for horror movies and Halloween since I was eight years old. As of right now I'm starting a horror movie collection. I love old horror movies, even the cheesy ones. I'm starting off collecting the classic's, 80's and than so on.

Does anyone on here love horror movies? I've watched quite a few over the week on Netflix and right now I'm watching Mind Hunter. Not horror but it's a great show.

MindHunter was good. Just finished it myself. When you say your starting off at the 80's and then so on? Do you mean you'll continue going further back in time of horror movies such as the 70's and even 60's ? There was definitely some good stuff there. Halloween just ended so I couldn't predict how much traffic this thread will see.

Yes I'm wanting to collect the older years after the 80's. 80's is the era I grew up in so I figured I'd do that first before collecting older films and asking around what they loved watching, I love 50's, 60's and 70's horror.

There's many different kinds of horror out there. The horror that doesn't do to well with me is the torture horror, I prefer watching a horror film that will keep my interest through out. Torture horror is people get slaughter left and right and leaves no excitement for me.

Not many people have posted here and that's okay. :)

I liked Mind Hunter and showed lots of promise.

I love all horror movies, but my favorites are the Universal studio classics. I tend to like the newer "paranormal" themed ones.

There's some youtube channels with great horror movies. Nosferatu is the best.

I'm a big fan of Hitchcock: "Dial M for Murder", "Psycho", "Rear Window", "Rope". Though he did make some pretty lousy ones too: "The Birds", "To Catch a Thief" and "North by Northwest" stand out to me as being pretty putrid. Although technically you'd call him the "King of Suspense". Oh well.

Yes Hitchcock is great! :) I love those original horror movies. I'm making a list of watching a lot of them one day. Black and White horror are one of my favorites and I love the Twilight Zone series. Thanks for continuing with this thread. :)

Do you read any classic horror novels as well? :)

if you like hitchcock, there's a little watched gem called "sabotage" from his english days. it stars sylvia sidney and john loder. i was amazed at how good it was and how timely.

i was obsessed with "vertigo" for a few years, still rewatch it.

i prefer the early horror films, too. let me recommend "Murders in the zoo" if you can find it. i LOVE that film!

I love horror as well. Most of the newer horror is more about the most gruesome way to kill someone instead of the killer. I think the reason Michael Myers, Jason and Freddy are classic is they each have a personality. Michael is relentless and if you are the target he never stops. Even his therapist had a fear of him. We got to know each demented killer and his history. I think this makes for better horror.

Count me among those who have expressed an undying love for horror movies. Body horror is my favorite, and, growing up, I thoroughly enjoyed watching David Cronenberg's films.

There's also a number books I've read relating to horror & horror movies, and they are worth the read. Deleuze and Horror Film, Cronenberg on Cronenberg, Philosophy of Horror, or, Paradoxes of the Heart, and The Philosophy of Horror (this is different from Paradoxes of the Heart).

Old BW horror flicks do it for me. Universal studios is my favorite, why watch imitators? A dark house, creepy music coming from the TV and a big bowl of hot buttered or kettle popcorn. :)

you should also check out the 60's italian horror movies, particularly mario brava films. both "black sunday" and "black sabbath" are genius.

If you haven't seen it yet, find 1987's Near Dark. Greatest 80's vampire movie, and directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Oscar winning director

Love your thread topic. I love the classics too, especially the 80s stuff, but have deep love for the older stuff especially the Hammer films with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. And Halloween is the best holiday ever.

If you're on facebook, check out Margali's Couch Pumpkin. They do old horror most nights, and especially weekends. Everything from classic Vincent Price movies to weird British horror from the 40s, including tv stuff like Thriller and Night Gallery.

Thank you, I will definitely check this out! c:

When I was a kid I legit thought, for some reason, that this show was affiliated with the song. Like that song, "The darkside's calling now nothing is real,
She'll never know just how I feel!"

I would sing it and watch this show. I don't know why I thought that.

Having said that I also love horror, but especially cheesy horror like from the 80s and 90s, and stuff that has absolutely no practical value, like B-movies or even lower than that.

I can't even keep them all straight but I quote them all the time.

I don't remember which movie it is, but the one with the preacher like, "I KICK ASS FOR THE LORD!"

I had that as my ringtone all through college.

They're just fun. And my parents were horror buffs from way back in the day.

All the creepy kids were those little aryan fuckers though, so I couldn't scare people UNTIL The Ring came out. What a glorious day that was.

"7 days" I would say in my creepiest child voice. I'd call people, say that and hang up with NO CONTEXT.

Anything made by the Full Moon Video production company. Subspecies, Puppetmaster, Dollman, Trancers, all those wonderfully cheesy things.
