Lost

Something I thought of during this weeks episode. When Sayid was dead for his two hours, they showed Miles staring at his body and I wondered if he was trying to sense something from him. Then he told Sayid this week that he had indeed been dead. I've always wondered if there was more to it.

Good episode this week. Showed a softer side to Ben in the alternate timeline, revealed how he had indeed been on the island in the 70's. I liked when he tried to bribe Miles and he wouldn't go along since he knew where the diamonds were buried. I also liked what we learned about Richard and how he had been touched by jacob, granting him the gift of not aging. Loved the scene between him and Jack with the dynamite, we're beginning to see a real change in him, be interesting to see how he evolves from here.

Is Widmore the one Jacob was referring to? Whose side might he be on. He's always depicted as a sort of villain, maybe he's Jacob's wild card. Exiled, returns years later to save the day. Didn't him and Ben have a similar rule between them, couldn't kill each other like Jacob and Smoky?

God forgive me but I have a crush on Ben, even with his intense evil nature or perhaps because of it.

My impression of the Ben/Widmore rules is that it is not so much a set of "supernatural" rules, like with Jacob/Smokey, but more like a Mafia thing (families are off limits.) I'm not sure why I think that, but Lost is like that. In trying to have things make sense, we tend to try to fit them into easy boxes like good vs evil, alive vs dead, etc.

I'm not sure that Jacob was being truthful when he talked about someone coming (108). He may have just been trying to get Jack to the lighthouse.

And I'm becoming less certain that Jacob is the "good" side of the battle, if this is indeed a good vs evil thing. His people have done some pretty terrible things in his name. Crashing airplanes, stealing children, hanging Charlie, mass murder, etc.

They keep telling us that Smokey is evil, but has he really done anything worse than what Jacob has done?

For a "greater good" maybe, but still. Yikes.

This was MY epsidoe.

My most favorite character Jack finally seems to embrace the role he's playing. And I love it how the writers managed to push him from the kinda boring position of the "american clear-cut hero" through hell to his actual role as man of faith and probably succesor to Jacob. Although, I kinda feel that thewriters will hit me in the stomach in the end when the candidate Jack will ultimately meet his demise or something. =(

And then, my second most favorite character Ben finally turned out to be on the side of "good" (although in LOST this might still turn out ot be the side of evil, I don't trust Jacob at all, but I want to). Such a heartfelt moment when he went like "'cause no one lese will have me". I almost cried which is very unusual for me watching tv. So, this was definitely my favorite episode so far in Season 6 and amongst the best of all times.

I'm really enjoying what they are doing with this show and I'm always getting terribly sad that in a couple of weeks, it's all done. =(

I feel betrayed by my own lust that I'm crushing on Ben, as well. It was the scene with Alex. And I FUCKING KNEW Alex would come back in this episode. I predicted it a page back or so. And as soon as he got redemption, saved Alex by pimping her to become a Yale-y .... he joined the "good" side.

Man, that was a great and fabulous episode. The episodes seem to be dancing more into the sideways timeline, which eventually will become the only timeline.

Prediction for next week: Along with Widmore, Penny and Desmond show up with their child. One of them is a candidate. #108?

*waggles eyebrows*

What here is this? The waggling of the eyebrows? In my general or specific direction? Eh? My Dear, my darling, my babycakes, my pleasant and barbed king of words? You wish to be Ben or are already are in the process of becoming, he?

I shall favour you with a scowl. *scowls* And you will be blessed for the attention.

One can never be betrayed by the baser thoughts towards the characters of a television series. May we revel long and lustily in that fashion as long as we have the show to do it with.

*sighs* For soon it will be, dare I say it? Finished.

My heart will be crushed to give up my weekly sex-ay lusting over Sayid. But I still will have the posters up all over my bedroom. *sigh*

Somehow sideways world is influencing what happens on the island and even changing the character of the characters. Like, Ben for example, he's both good and evil but absolved after finally coming clean on killing Jacob...

Ben taking care of his father, makes him less powerful. Its that Nurture vs. nature and all that, growing up on the island vs the alternative.

They've also gone from seeking/achieving redemption on the island to seeking/achieving it in the sideways timeline in the other world. Two seasons ago, I never would have guessed that would happen. I thought the island was that grounding force of redemption and possibility. Now I'm quite confused.

Now let me see if I understand this, Sideways World came about because of the explosion or implosion that did happen, where Juliet died?

Or is there some event further back in the Island's timeline that was altered?

Yes, I think that's right.

I only have a poster from Stars Wars episode I on my sewing room wall. Liam Neeson is so nice to look on.

Now I did have Sawyer as my desktop background for a very long time. More than eyecandy.

Ben moved the fucking island.

Ben is a teacher, who sacrificed his personal advancement to help one student.

I'd probably trade places with Ben.

I wish Tiger Beat would do an entire pictorial of Lost men. I'd put them all over my work pod.

Heh. I hearted that magazine when I was 12. Scott Baio and Sean Cassidy posters *everywhere*

Gods I am old. David Cassidy and the Partridge Family. The Osmonds, Donny especially.
I must go beat my head against the wall for recalling these sordid memories from my childhood.

Likewise. I should go cleanse myself with video clips of Naveen Andrews to swipe out the image of Scott Baio, especially.

Here is our own little modern version of a Tiger Beat pictorial: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=sayid+naveen+andrews&FORM=BIFD Insert super dorktastic girl giggle here.....
