Strike May Cut Returning 'Lost' Season

LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Lost" will return next month after an absence of eight months, but fans of the TV drama may still feel deprived because of the Hollywood writers strike.

The series, like other dramas and comedies, faces the possibility of a season cut short by the strike, now in its sixth week. Eight episodes of "Lost" have been completed for the series' return Jan. 31 - half the number originally planned, ABC said Friday.

The network announced this year that the series would end in 2010 after three more years of 16 episodes each.

Most series air 22 episodes a season. ABC decided that fewer episodes of "Lost," aired without reruns interrupting the serial story, would please fans of the show about air crash survivors on a dangerous island.

Whether the entire 16-episode order for 2008 can be filled depends on the duration of the contract dispute between studios and the Writers Guild of America. The strike has sidelined production on dozens of scripted shows, and networks are running out of new episodes.

Prospects for a deal were hurt when talks collapsed Dec. 7. No new negotiations were scheduled.

"Lost" viewers can expect at least a mini-cliffhanger ending, no matter how long the season, the network said.

The stranded islanders were last seen in the May season finale, when they managed to issue a satellite phone call for help that, it appeared, could bring them more trouble.

"Lost" is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. Eastern time Thursdays, taking over the time slot held by "Grey's Anatomy" - whose stock of new episodes is down to one.

Thanks for the up date. I am so lost with out Lost! It's one of the best shows I seen in a long time. Damn writers strike! It has fucked up a lot of my favorite shows, like David Letterman!

Does anybody know when Survivor Quebec starts? :D

ugh, this show irritates the shizzee outta me with all its never ending plot progression that just loops around in a fancy but soo tedious circle grr

tomorrow, Lost is back!

They thought they had met the enemy. They thought they had seen evil. They thought wrong. As the new season begins, the feeling that rescue is close at hand, the survivors don't know whether or not to believe Charlie's final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. As unlikely alliances are formed, those they thought could be trusted may turn against them,as the enemy of their enemy becomes their friend. But who can be trusted? Is rescue really as close as it seems?

Its a 2 hours season premiere but I think the first hour is recap.

Yeee-haaah.

This is easily the best show ever and I couldn't almost stand the hype.

I'm so looking forward to it.

From what I understand, there is an hour of recap and then the first ep of season 4, entitled "The Beginning of the End".

Too bad I'm in Germany. :( Sometimes they make you dnld stuff illegaly....

Snoopy, woof-forward

John Lachonis

aka DocArzt (docarzt.com)(thetailsection.com) got a scoop last month when he was the only regular human on the planet to get to review the first 4 episodes of the 2008 season! He wrote this:
"A full tank, petal to the metal, turbocharged story tearing down a corridor of mythology without segmentation, without red herrings, without capricious delays designed to slow down the momentum. 'Lost' is on a mission here, and its objective here is to blow your mind in a way that is distinctly 'Lost.'"

Yes, they had planned on 16 episodes for the next 3 seasons, but they only have 8 in the can now, (with the writer's strike) and that my disrupt their plans.

With such a great review, I can't wait.:)
