I think with about one more hr they could have just ended the series completely.... I enjoyed it but it really needs to just end.

I kind of agree with you but now I'm curious what the writers are going to come up with next season.

The thing with this show is that I'm constantly thinking when I watch it - it's not a kick back and relax kind of show. You have to pay attention watching it.
yeah, that's the weird part. I generally don't like to have to think too much for my entertainment.

True....but writers that good to come up with the first season should be able to start something completely new and different. I would at least hope. Hero's aint it, though...

re' the news paper clipping....funeral.

I wonder what Jacob's full name is....
and where else he was,
as he seems to only be in that chair some of the time to some of the people.
If its a front page piece, might they re-intro him as some kind of dead, vaguely celeb psychic/ESP'er/telekinetcist. We did have all the flying hell that broke out in the hut while BBen and Locke were in there.
A link in with the Dharma set up and research into a range of mental ability stuff.?
Could some sort of psychic link be what leads to them being found. Most other forms of communication seem somewhat screwed.
CIA/KGB etc were supposed to be hot on it through to recent times-
Maybe Dharma also had a few irons in the same fire.
Christ, I am reaching here.
I know... lots of covert military research...Dharma was also working on communicating with dolphins etc, thats why they went to the totally pointless expense and bother of building a station under water.
somebody please stop me...

just thought.......weren't the Others supposed to have grabbed some of the tailenders during their first night on the island...
Have we seen / heard anymore of them ?
Or did I just miss the references ?

and ...and...
whats with that Naomi supposed to have parachuted from a helo...
They don't normally lend themselves to using parachutes too well. usually you fly too low. She was running a search grid, which again would be done at low alt.
Once you let go of a helo's controls the thing goes apeshit.
Even if you tried it freebase style with the chute in your arms you would have a serious problem with downdraught or updraught and a collapsing canopy.
Parachuting from a probably autorotating helo...now theres a work of fiction.

and ...and ...and... whats going on with the little cabal of philosophers apparently on island...
we have a John Locke, interested in the spiritual core of humanity and its interaction with the corporal as a whole entity, as well as identifying a concept of 'associatism' where in linkages are made between ideas in childhood,( can we see some fertile ground there for walts comic and various events, bears etc ,
whose work influenced JJ Rousseau, in turn very keen on the concept to become known as 'natural man', the 'noble savage'..not to mention the social contract , interestingly relevant to mankinds 'tribalisation' and interaction of the individual within and despite the group.
then we get Mikhail Bakunnin, that well known revolutionary, anarchist, and anti semite about town.

where did I put those meds.?????????

Whats with him anyway?

And "Jacob"? Shite...

Lost is one of the few series that actually confuses more then enlightens, even when its the next episode and things are supposed to unravel...

what if:
-the only way off the island was to never reveal the island
-they could not speak of the island with anyone.
-they could not speak to each other.
-the events on the island and leading up to the island had to be erased.

Under what circumstances could they make such a deal and with who?

Interesting...

I found this on a video blog...

'Lost' Plane Crash Pieced Together

A superfan of the show with some superb editing skills pieced together the show's defining moment -- the plane crash -- from the points of view of the Losties, the Others and Desmond. Of course, those three perspectives were revealed piecemeal on the show during the course of three seasons, so it's fascinating to see them lined up together like this -- and it's probably the only way you'd ever see them together. To us, it validates the storytelling decisions behind the show: 'Lost' would be much less interesting had the writers chosen to tell it in a linear fashion like this. (No offense meant to the video's creator, of course -- the work done here is tremendous.) It's just too bad we have to wait until '08 to see fresh episodes.

Interesting...

Looks like J.J. Abrams is at it again...I would love to have a peek inside his mind.
Hurry and look at the clip, before it's pulled, apparently, Paramount Studios does NOT want this out on the internet, so all trailers that are seen are pirated from people in the theater. It has caught my attention...I want to see more dammit!

I heard about this...no title in the trailer. They had a newsclip about it on imdb.com

I saw the trailer when I saw Transformers. You'd have to pay me to see the movie because it looks like it is shot in the very irritating "shaky cam" style just like The Blair Witch Project.

There were lots of people screaming and running in the streets. It didn't look like new territory for a film project at all in spite of "cleverly" being secretive about the title of the project.

*shrugs*

Allow me to drag this thread back on topic...

When is season 3 on DVD?

I could look it up myself, but figured I'd contribute something to the thread, and give you guys something to do.

Note that we know nothing about it: the "Blair Witch" style could just be for the teaser, the actual movie could be completely different.

It comes out in December.

I have to wonder does anyone actually enjoy watching a film done in shaky cam or Blair Witch style? Would that been seen as a plus to a trailer? If they did use in in the trailer and not in the film would some people feel mislead or ripped off?

I would definitely go see the movie, I love what J.J. Abrams has done with Lost, I'm betting the movie will be very exciting. Oh and I was one of the few that actually liked the first Blair Witch Project....it creeped me out good!

I'm not a big fan of the handheld camera filming method, but if done right it could be very cool. However, I do think it works very well as a teaser trailer, and I don't think most of the people who see the trailer would feel ripped off if the movie was different. After all, the trailer doesn't even include the name, so I think people are keeping an open mind as to what it'll be like.

Missing 'Lost' Character to Return
LOS ANGELES (July 26) - The head of prime-time television programming for ABC had some big news on Wednesday for fans of the hit castaway thriller "Lost" -- Michael will be back for the show's upcoming fourth season.

Actor Harold Perrineau is rejoining the cast as reluctant father turned devoted dad Michael Dawson, who escaped the island in a boat with his son, Walt, after betraying fellow Flight 815 survivors to the mysterious group known as the Others.

Walt, played by Malcolm David Kelley, has made fleeting, unexplained appearances on the island since then, but Michael has not been seen on "Lost" since his departure at the end of the second season.

His impending return was revealed by ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson before a gathering of TV critics in Beverly Hills. No other information about Perrineau's comeback was given.

Plans for his return were only grudgingly revealed after arm-twisting from several critics who complained when McPherson initially insisted on holding the announcement until a separate ABC event scheduled for Thursday at the Comic-Con comic books convention in San Diego.

McPherson's attempt to save the "Lost" scoop for Comic-Con reflects the growing importance of the annual trade show as a promotional platform for major TV networks and studios, which see it as a chance to generate advance online "buzz" for certain programs among the Internet-savvy crowd in attendance.

According to Daily Variety, the agenda for this year's four-day convention includes nearly 100 television-focused events, including special Fox screenings for the pilot of its new "Bionic Woman" series and a "Star Wars"-themed episode of its animated comedy "Family Guy."

The broadcast industry is tapping into a newfound overlap between the comic book fans who flock to such conventions and devotees of a new wave of sci-fi and fantasy-based TV shows inspired by the success of "Lost."

"Lost" producers announced in May that they would end the series after three more seasons, each consisting of 16 consecutive episodes, allowing the show to conclude with a decisive finale during the 2009-2010 broadcast year.

While the Emmy-winning show lost some ratings momentum last season, it remained a key part of ABC's prime-time lineup, averaging roughly 15 million viewers a week. It also ranks as one of the most recorded shows on television and is a popular draw for online streaming on ABC.com, iTunes downloads and DVDs.

This just in, execs at ABC are airing the first episode tonight. It's going to be a flashforward to February. Then in February, it's going to be a flashback to today.

Daniel Dae Kim, who stars as Jin-Soo Kwon on "Lost," was arrested by Honolulu PD early Thursday morning on suspicion of drunken driving.

Kim is the fourth member of the cast of "Lost" to be arrested. Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were arrested for DUI in December 2005 and were lost from the show soon after. In September of 2006, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was arrested and accused of disobeying a police officer and driving without a license he too was lost to the show.

Wonder if Kim will get the same treatment.
