Lost

That's a probably a wise decision. Hopefully it will improve ratings! Also, the later time slot might allow for some racier material...

Speaking of which (sorry if this isn't the place for it , but...), would anyone be interested in a sexual roleplay based on Lost? PM me if you are. I'd prefer something over an instant messenger - I don't have time for messageboard based ones anymore. </shamelessplug>

'Lost' Producers Discuss Series' End

PASADENA, Calif. (Jan. 15) - Makers of the tropical island drama "Lost" say they're talking with ABC executives about setting an end date for the series.

There's no sense the finale is coming anytime soon. But knowing they have a deadline will help writers of the convoluted drama lay out how they want the story to end, producers said Sunday in a meeting with TV critics here.

"Once we figure out when that will be, a lot of the questions will go away," said Carlton Cuse, an executive producer. "Lost" is in its third season.

The producers, citing Fox's "The X-Files," said they didn't want to wear out their welcome. "That was a great show that probably ran two seasons too long," Cuse said. "That is a cautionary tale for us."

"Lost" is due back on ABC's schedule next month following an extended hiatus after the season's first six episodes and will air uninterrupted through May. The schedule was a direct result of fans' complaints about reruns disrupting their concentration in past seasons, producers said.

It's likely next year that all 22 episodes will run consecutively, much like Fox is doing with "24."

One prominent critic - ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson - said he thought the first six episodes this season concentrated too heavily on the stories of Jack, Kate and Sawyer at the expense of other members of the large cast.

The producers said that will be rectified right away for the season's second half as "Lost" goes back to the beach.

"Lost," which is shifting back an hour to 10 p.m. Eastern time, Wednesdays, on ABC's schedule, has seen a 14 percent drop in its audience this year, according to Nielsen Media Research. Producers contend the numbers are deceptive because of a comparison with the second season, when "Lost" was a cultural sensation.

The producers concede that it's a demanding story for viewers to keep up with, and not one that people can join in the middle.

"We want them back," executive producer Damon Lindelof said of the lost fans. "We really believe in the show and the audience we're getting. But if we write towards getting them back, we may alienate the audience that we already have."

at least that's something!

Waiting until the end of February is a pain. I hope the 16 new episodes blow me away. I can't wait for the scary violins!

Commercials are a pain in the ass.

It is truly the only way to fly. I cannot watch those shows with all those commercial interruptions.

You guys are so lucky. Over here in Germany, it'll probably take 6 to 12 months until I will see new episodes. I have seen the latest episodes even though I do not live in America but over here Season 2 hasn't even ended. It'll probably be three or four weeks till the Season finale. So that means Season 3 will probably not start until this fall or december. And then I will have to wait six more weeks because i've already seen episodes 1-6. Dammit.

After some consideration, I have decided to once again get up on the LOST train. I hear good things about the new batch of shows, things like "there will be answers."

But, seriously, I can't take too much more fucking around from this show. My patience is wearing thin. One more go, LOST. That's all you get outta me.

I don't why everybody bashes this show so much. They never live up to the hype or the build-up. Can anybody remember a show that had questions like this that they were pleased with when it finally ended. I think of a show like X-Files, the ending wasn't great, you just watched it to see how it would end, Lost is no different.

Also if they indeed have lost viewers, they probably won't come back. With a storyline such as this, if you actually talked yourself out of watching it, knowing how complicated it is, you're not likely to turn it back on, believing you will have missed too much.

At least with the X-Files the shows could be watched and enjoyed individually. If you miss a couple of Lost episodes (or are just trying to get into it) you're fucked because the show is predicated on watching every episode to follow it effectively.

Yes, that is true but with a show like the X-Files, you knew that only the first and last few every season had anything to do with the main storyline. That in itself was a little frustrating, fortunately, the other episodes by themselves were good. With Lost, everyone seems to focus week in and week out on the story and the lack of answers. When they do an episode giving a backstory or a story on the island not associated with the main storyline, they get criticized. I think its a bit unfare.

Tonight's the night!

FINALLY! 16 episodes uninterrupted.

at 9PM EST tonight they are doing an hour of recap, then at 10PM EST the actual episode begins.

9PM

Lost Survivor Guide
A recap of the series prior to the resumption of its third season. Included: a look at how life on the island has changed and shaped the characters, as well as a review of their backstories. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse host.

10PM

Not in Portland
On the operating table, Ben's life is in Jack's hands, but the doc's gambit to free Kate and Sawyer hits a geographical snag. Still, the runaways elude Danny and the other guards, with the help of unlikely allies. Flashbacks follow Juliet's medical career, which has a very personal component to it. Rachel: Robin Weigert. Ethan: William Mapother. Edmund: Zeljko Ivanek. Alpert: Nestor Carbonell.

yay!

I'm glad that they're doing a recap, well I should say that I'm glad that they're doing a recap on the night that they have a new epi as well.

No one had until tonight......

Outstanding show tonight - that clockwork orange crap was creepy!!!

Good show. The recap helped.

The bus was obvious. Her being brought there 3 years ago, was not. and WTF, a pregnant male mouse?

Why does Ben's daughter want off the island so bad? Sawyers' "Shena" was classic!
Is her boyfriend important to the story at all?
How did Ben wake up during surgery?
How important was Nathan?

This is cool

Clockwork Orange Crap? I'm lost, could you explain? I've not see A Clockwork Orange though. Are you referring to the brainwashing film?

I didn't watch the recap. I don't like recaps.

Yeah I agree a pregnant male mouse, wha???

The "Shena" thing was funny.

Boyfriend doesn't impress much so far but who knows? He could surprise us. Or rather, the writers could.

I don't think Ben should have woken up but whoever the anesthesiologist was left the operating room. Talk about not being a safe thing!

Again, I have no idea how important Nathan was but I'm still very leery of this show. We shall see how it goes.

Meh. I think I've lost the spark I once had for this show. It was okay, but I guess....I don't know, I haven't had enough time to really mull over it yet.....but the show is just losing me.

I'm hopeful that next week, they'll feature some of the other charaters (not THE OTHERS) and those are the ones that I like the most. I got sick of the Jack, Kate, Sawyer triangle way back when. That's probably why I was under impressed last night.

Also, the recap show kinda pissed me off. Those smug bastards...they kept talking about how "anyone can start watching lost right now...it IS that type of show where you can view it casually" and I thought that was utter bullshit.

I'm bitter.

I agree. I liked Mr. Eko, they killed him. I no longer like Kate or Jack. I can't stand the others. Show me someone I give a fig about for heaven's sake.

ABC Moves 'Lost' Out of 'Idol's' Way

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 06) - ABC is reshuffling its Wednesday lineup, launching a two-hour comedy block and moving the hit drama "Lost" to 10 p.m.
Whoever authorized that should get a promotion. Smart move!
