Lost Writers due to computer crash

Hello all,

This morning I woke up and my computer had crashed. Total and complete crash...so I've lost all the writers I work with. Some of you had already sent me stories to edit and now everything is gone

If you recognize yourself, could you please contact me again. I have a story here completely edited (which fortunately I had on a floppy) and I have no idea where to send it as I don't remember whose story it is

If you haven't already re-formatted the hard drive, it may well be possible to recover most of the files - it usually is.

Take the hard drive out of the crashed machine and put it as a secondary hard drive on another one. Take the important stuff off to CD/RW and then recover the first machine. Use the CD(s) to repopulate the hard drive.

Thanks Snoop but there was nothing else I could do but format my HD. I didn't have another computer close by so I did the only think I could think of under the circumstances......format

NOw I've lost almost 2 months of work, more than 150 stories that I had edited, plenty of crucial informations....my whole life was in my computer (well not all but you know what I mean).

You told me that you have tried everything you know of to get back the information.

What can the rest of us do to help?

I looked at the files for two stories I had edited, and found the registration names of the authors (the names they used when putting their computers to work). I'll send those to you if you think they will help. One appears to be a real first and last name; the other is a nickname.

I still wish you could get a computer specialist to look at your machine.
