(This thread is staged approximately five years after the beginning of Ava's and Devon's journey in Slave Training.)

Ava leaned against the railing of second floor balcony as her mind wandered, half hidden by a line of tropical foliage that waved ever so slightly in the breeze. The row of townhomes themselves were far from special, but when combined with the sound of the crashing waves and the soft sigh of the waving foliage waving in the breeze it was hard to ignore the allure of it all. In normal situations the sight of her lingering on her balcony clad in only a short cotton slip would be frowned upon, but here at the resort her exposure would not even bat an eye.

The sound of a car in the distance brought her mind back to the present, and she was genuinely surprised at how long she had been lost in thought. Was Devon back already, and what were they getting themselves into now?

It had been two years since the two of them first arrived here at the resort. When she had been approached by friend with the idea of creating a resort that catered to the sexual desires of the guests, she had been intrigued. When he further inquired if she would be willing to come on as a fulltime member of staff, she was flattered but underwhelmed. After years of working for herself and only taking clients and cases that appealed to her it seemed like a position that would be more stressful than she cared to deal with. When she eventually agreed to consult and assist with the initial staffing and training Brandon was ecstatic. Staffing was easier than she had ever expected. In the end, their staff became incredibly well-rounded with many salaried employees filling simple job openings, in guest services, and food service to self identified submissives wishing to fulfill their own desires and a mix of slaves purchased by the corporation for their skills or beauty to fill the rest. In the end Ava agreed to oversee the small group of 5 trainers who assisted new staff and trained incoming arrivals. Perhaps Brandon always knew that she would never leave, as her accommodations were ever so slightly larger than the rest..

The resort itself was impeccably designed, and while the large part of the hotel flanked the beach they also offered a variety of other lodgings that spread out along the beach and deep into the jungle. Their small tropical island could provide almost any vacation experience you could want and so much more. The island itself sat alongside a small chain of islands, leaving the only way in and out by boat, or occasionally by plane. The remote location offered extra appeal as you were cut off from any normal communications, as well as an incredible sense of privacy and freedom from the oversight of any governmental agencies.

For most, it was true paradise...

When the employee shuttle boat pulled up to the employee dock, Devon was standing at the end of it waiting. He stood an even six feet tall, and his swimmer's body was easily visible with the white khaki shorts and polo shirt that he wore. He didn't wear the uniform of the rest of the staff, because he wasn't truly a member of the staff. What he did wear though, was a stainless steel byzantine chain necklace. This alone wouldn't look unusual, if not for the small metal cat bell that dangled from the frontmost links, resting comfortably against his breastbone. The wind was playing with his short black hair, and as the passengers disembarked, his dark blue eyes scanned over each of them. The first four were naturally people he'd seen before and expected. He smiled at each of the employees coming back from their leave from the resort, but when he saw the last person come to the edge of the ramp he stepped forward towards her.

"Good afternoon." Devon said simply as he approached the woman. "Callie I presume?" As Devon asked his question, he extended his hands towards her. "My name is Devon, and if you'll kindly come this way, I would be happy to escort you to the staff quarters."

With the small bit of formality out of the way, Devon led the way down the dock towards the short path that would lead them towards the staffing quarters. "Did you have any questions that I might be able to answer before we get there?"

"Don't worry so much mum! I'm gonna make bank! I swear!" Callie wrapped her arms around her mother as she prepared to leave for an undetermined amount of time.

"It's my job to worry about you. Like full time, forever!" Her mother smiled warmly as she embraced Callie in return.

It wasn't Callie's first trip away but this time it was for work purposes and Callie wasn't sure when she'd be able to come back and visit her mother but she'd reservedly told her it'd be at least 6 months to a year. She wanted to do her best at this job and show she was committed to the role. Callie was 22 and had recently decided that remote jobs and travel were where it was at. She wanted to explore as much as possible while she was still young enough to enjoy it.

As she let go of her mother and grabbed her suitcase to wheel it onto the platform adjoining the boat, she turned to wave goodbye one last time and trundled aboard. Her honey blonde hair bounced in the sunshine and Callie had to contain all of the nervous excitement that made her want to squeal. It still didn't feel real!

"I'll text you as soon as I arrive! I promise!" She yelled to her mother from the boat as she stood against the railing, echoing the promise she'd already made to the older woman.

"You bloody well better!" Her mother called back, waving frantically as the boat pulled away from the dock.

"Cause if I don't, you'll probably send the federal police to find me." Callie said in a dry tone that her mother would never hear, still smiling and waving as her mother disappeared from view.

The ride itself would take most of the day and take them in and out of reception so Callie had downloaded some music and brought a book with her to ensure she remained occupied for the trip. The included lunch wasn't awful either for just sandwiches. She did end up having to tie her mid-length hair back as the windshear was too much and it felt like she was being whipped in the neck if she stood outside for too long. The beautiful day and the cool breeze made it difficult to just sit inside though and she got through far less of her book than she thought she would.

"Probably for the best, I might get bored later or something and regret reading it." She said softly as she put '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' in her tote bag after the Captain announced they had arrived.

She was probably the last to disembark, she had a smaller frame and was less inclined to push her way to the front. Not to mention the fact that she was uncertain of where she was going and was taking her time exploring the island with her eyes as they docked.

As it turned out, she didn't have much to worry about, Devon approached her as she left the boat and she shook his hand, "Yeah, Callie. Hi. That'd be great, thanks so much."

She smiled nervously as she walked alongside him, her suitcase had been taken and they'd told her it'd be waiting for her at her room upon arrival which impressed her. The only time any airline ever delivered her luggage to her was when they'd lost it and she generally had to wait weeks to get it back.

She took the time to appraise the young man walking alongside her who looked to be around her own age. He seemed fit and possibly even athletic judging by his build. Callie was slim but that was thanks to wonderful genetics coupled with a fast metabolism more than diet or exercise. Her eyes travelled to the silver necklace dangling from his throat, it wasn't unusual for a man to wear a silver chain around his neck but the pendant was an interesting choice. She could hear it tinkling softly too and wondered why he'd wear it. Wouldn't it be annoying? Callie could have sworn it was...well, a cat bell. It sounded exactly like the one her Calico back home wore to warn birds.

Of course, then he asked her if she had any questions and she had to blink back from explorer and go straight into 'work mode'. She cleared her throat and looked away from him towards the path ahead.

"Uh, oh god, I'm not sure really. I'm a little overwhelmed just taking everything in now. I guess I'm dying to know about living and working in the same place and hoping for my own bathroom." She joked and giggled just a little, "And then maybe about my duties but I learn better as I go along too, I pick things up that way. Learning where everything is will be pretty important I imagine, the place is so much bigger than the photos suggest online! It's really beautiful here."

'Aaaaand now you're rambling. Take a breath, idiot.' She chided herself internally and stopped her spiel to allow Devon space to talk.
