I'm writing a story about orcs, and the next scene is supposed to take place in the Lord's Hall. Which is where the Orc Lord basically rules from, although he doesn't necessarily live there. Now in this universe Orc Lords and Orc Warbosses are equals, they just are in charge of different facets of orcish society, and so an Orc Lord isn't as likely to be a warrior. So I'm trying to figure out how the hall portion of the Lord's Hall would be set up. It's where he'd meet up with large groups of orcs to give work orders, to have hearings, and to pass rulings ect. Like, would it be a large empty room. Or would there be seating of some sort. If seating would it just be for the Lord. Does the Lord have a desc of some sort. There's a library full of records in the Lord's Hall, would any part of that library be in the public portion of the hall. Or am I still thinking too much inside the box?

I’d say you’d want to model it around the lord’s personality:

If he looks down on others? Give him a pulpit and have everyone have to stand when he hears their requests.

Man of the people? A desk or maybe a small throne that people can be on eye level with him at and some chairs. If he’s a smaller lord who’s well liked maybe he even meets with them in private chambers.

I would say a library wouldn’t be for the public unless again, small lord who likes his people so his manor is open to them.

A large hall, the floor made up of sand and dirt, the walls decorated with shields, weapons and skulls, all formerly belonged to their slain enemies. Large wooden tables with a large decorated chair at the end of each one of them, these chairs were reserved for the Orc warbosses, the higher ups of their armies would sit at the tables.

The table for the Orc lord was turned 45 degrees and stood at the other side of the hall, the large chair for the Orc Lord in the middle of that table with smaller chairs besides it for his councilmen. In front of the Orc Lord's table a round circle bordered by ropes, the sand in this circle was stained red. A place where battles were fought, either Orc vs Orc to settle disputes, Orc vs man to prove their superiority, sometimes even man vs man, just for entertainment.

At the sides 2 large steel cages with chains to keep the captured enemies, sometimes men to fight or torture, sometimes women for a different kind of entertainment.

2 large wooden doors at the end of the hall (behind the Orc Lord table) One leading to the Orc Lords private residence, the other to a kitchen like chamber where food and drinks are prepared for the feasts.

At the centre of the hall between the tables for the Warbosses is a large firepit that brings warmth and light into the hall, aided by torches that are scattered across the walls.

The Orc Lord's table doubles as his working desk when there are no feasts. The hall is where Orc's come for an audience or meetings as well and where he makes rulings on disputes, puts people to trial etc. basically everything is governed from there. Though all important papers are kept in his private chambers and are fetched by his councilmen or assistants when needed.

I would go with something like this probably?

Hmm, well the current lord is going to be dead by the time the MC leaves the hall, so I guess a redecoration might happen. Especially since the MC is going to be the next Lord.

He looks down on most orcs, but he wants the doctors and merchants to view him well...

Maybe he does a bit of both. A pulpit or an elevated throne might work best for this guy, maybe set in front of the doors to an office?

That sounds excellent for another territory's Lord's Hall. I don't think it'll work for this one though... But I will be keeping it in mind!

In that case I would say a pulpit for the orcs he doesn’t care for with the office for those he does (literal backroom deals).
