Lorde, the illegitimate child of Joe Cocker?

Was it all just an act or did he lose himself in the music? I think the latter.

I don't question his sincerity. But his mannerisms were and are unique to the point where someone like me seeing him for the first time and not knowing his "act" thought he had a disability of some kind. And when I saw Lorde for the first time live I thought of Joe Cocker. Her mannerisms struck me as a bit contrived but what do I know. Art isn't my thing.

I've not seen her.

Joe Cocker was a singer who knew how to use a microphone. His body might have been all over the place, but his mouth was always on the mark. That's not very likely with a disability.

It was definitely confusing the first time I saw him. He was an outstanding singer and performer, no doubt.

What's her thing besides spaz?

:D She would laugh at this. :D

'When I’m onstage, I don’t think about how it looks, I just concentrate on really feeling what I hear,' the New Zealand native told fans during the hour long conversation.
'But I totally know I look like Gollum when I perform, so it’s cool.'

I might be biased since she is from New Zealand but I admire her attitude.

It takes guts in a society where some women/girls feel the pressure to look beautiful and are very self conscious. No make up selfies and being real and a good role model is something I respect a lot about her.

Oddly enough, I've not seen her perform, but like Joe Cocker, I was found her voice compelling.
