Looks like transgenders are going to have to go through everything gays did

When the gay rights movement started, around 1970, it would have been pointless to poll public opinion on legal recognition of same-sex marriage -- the only response from most people would have been bafflement. Now we have a society where a majority support it -- but it took five decades for us to get that far.

Now it looks like transgenders are going to have to go through the same process all over again, to reach the same level of public acceptance and normalization.

Will it take as long?

It's possible that a majority supports it but only in enlightened states like New England and the West Coast. In the south and middle of the country most people are mouth breathing knuckle draggers who will never support gay marriage. This is why the country needs to be split up so the Neanderthals can be cut off and forgotten.

if you count in all the years transgender people have been fighting already, then maybe. how sad is that?
a lot will depend on this election... if trump wins, you can guarantee it will take exponentially longer than if Harris takes the Presidency.

As I understand it, a male-to-female transition is a difficult and complicated process. It involves hormone treatments. And irreversible surgery. And at least two years of psychotherapy -- no surgeon will touch you unless you've been through that and your shrink agrees this is something you really need.

Point being, nobody is going to go through all of that just to gain an unfair advantage in women's sports.

exactly!

about 15 years back, I worked with a trans woman going through the process. She'd lived her former life as a man, married, had children just to get through life. After her kids were old enough, she and her wife got divorced and she began to go through the process... it took a long time and discomfort, plus she was living with her father who was not at all supportive and didn't want her in the same house as him. She was lonely at home and risked her safety every time she set foot outside the house to come to work, and as for dating? Well, let's say it made her braver and wiser.

Not only the psych evals and hormone treatments, speech therapy (to modulate the sound of her voice from deeper to more feminine sounding), there was the electrical removal of every single hair follicle around the penile area—something that took multiple treatments—since that skin is basically inverted to form the lining of the created vagina. The whole thing took years and the big op was both anticipated with great excitement and also great fear. The post op was pretty horrendous for her, with the packing of the cavity and other indignities, but eventually things settled for her and she was able to live in the body that matched who she was as a human being... a woman.

for ANYONE to suggest someone goes through this just to win a sports medal has no idea of the pain, the stigma and the danger it presents even today.

Nah. We just reopen psychiatric hospitals, treat 'em where possible and anyone that castrates kids or administers puberty blocking drugs or whatever to them gets executed. Simple fix.

What you do when you're an adult its your own affair. You wanna chop bits off, go for it. Dugs? Same thing. You wanna grow boobs, go for it. Takes you out of the gene pool but I see that as a simple elf-correcting solution, personally. Just don't expect anyone else to pay for it, and seeing as you gotta be batshit crazy, have fun but get the fuck out of the military, teaching, and anything that involves kids.

Part of the problem.

I'm cautiously optimistic it might not. I think transphobia is, while not exactly the same as homophobia, at least a close cousin of it. Which means we're starting well ahead of where we were in 1970.

Forced acceptance is a form of abuse in itself. At the risk of being lambasted I personally feel this has got out of hand, when the trans and gay community have "acceptance"; what will the next "in" thing be will all have to demonstrate about?

While I have no view one way or the other, here in the UK we have rainbows on police patrol cars while county line drug smugglers, run riot with children running drugs. Society seems to be imploding in on itself, just because of what should only happen in the bedroom, isn't.

Explain to me why I should care? :)
Because society is judged by how it treats it's most vulnerable members. The people who are vehemently anti trans are anti women too; they're the ones trying to take control of your reproductive rights. They're the ones that attack 'otherness' and one day they'll come for you.

Those fags have made it all the way back here in the woods. I saw one at the grocery store, it was wearing a manzier with daisy Duke shorts and crocks. 🎃:ROFLMAO:

Fortunately the isle separated and I turned and didn't have to get near that sick fuck. Sorry if I hurt your little feeling you retarded quief.

Every group that finds itself in a "socially awkward position" has to transition through that phase.

Don't see how transgenderism is reproductive issue. :)
