Regarding the event, China's mainstream English-language media: It is a Taiwan Question.
Western media: It is a Taiwan Problem, a Taiwan Issue.
I fail to see the difference.

It will be interesting to see who Taiwan elects. The question will also be how China reacts.

Based on the forum's right leaning peeps, I'm sure they are interested. (Joking)

After Russia battled with Ukraine, Israel was dragged into war with a number of apparent and secret rivals, Myanmar's telefraud-supporting militants and government forces were engaged in a civil war that would extend to China, and two days back North Korea provocated South Korea, Bangladesh selected a Prime Minister to the disapproval of both the US and the UK, now Taiwan is going to join the wild party, America will be made very busy to entertain so many trouble makers at the same time.

After meaning

in the time following (an event or another period of time).

If you can't get the first word correct, why would anyone bother to read the rest of what you wrote?

Ukraine is still fighting Russia, nothing has ended, the outcome is yet to be determined.

Taiwan is having a regular election, nothing to see there. The only issue is to see how many more bunkers to build.

Do you have a candidate preference?

Sorry, I do not realize I have made such a big mistake. Thanks for your direction.
Your words are like what an ancient Chinese poem said, "It sounds like the fairy music from the heaven that makes my ears clear temprarily."(original:如听仙乐耳暂明)
Language is the clothes of thinking, so I think there is problem in my thinking. But my teacher said that human people are not machine, who can always try to understand the meaning he wants to know from an uneducated person or even a person who cannot speak.
Do you have a candidate preference?
I like the candidate of KMT, because this party is relocated from the mainland and still contains some blood relations with the majority in the mainland of China. But it looks like this party has let the local people down time and again, so they choose the candidate of another party, something like in the US, where people do not like Biden but hate Trump more, so they pick Biden.

Dear American friends, have you got the latest result of the election? Here I cannot get access to real news, there are too many versions of truth in Chinese language media outlets, many of which are we-media, run by anybody who owns a cell phone and an account number of Douyin (TikTok), Weibo, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu, WeChat, Baidu, Tencent, Sina, Sohu, and so on

The correct word is propaganda. Not a criticism, my Chinese would not be close to correct either.

As expected China's rhetoric has escalated threatening Taiwan and everyone that has offered their congratulations on the election results.

Taiwan is well aware of what 'peaceful reintegration' with China means, they need look no further than Hong Kong.

Will China do something incredibly stupid now?

I’ve heard this will lead to closer ties to the United States and a stronger defense against the mainland. Good.
Maybe. On the other hand it is possible that one guy with Presidential ambitions in November will only want to know how many $ he might get for selling the Taiwanese out.

I think Biden will be dropping out in May so no worries there.

Taiwan elects Lai Ching-te, from incumbent pro-sovereignty party, as president

Taiwan has voted for Lai Ching-te to be its next president, ushering in a historic third term in power for the pro-sovereignty Democratic Progressive party (DPP), in a result that will anger Beijing and heighten tensions across the Taiwan strait.
The victory of Lai, who since 2020 had served as vice-president to Tsai Ing-wen, marks the continuation of a government that promoted a sovereign Taiwan and a national identity separate to China, and oversaw some of the deepest cross-strait tensions in decades as Beijing pushed towards its goal of annexation.

China’s Taiwan affairs office responded to Lai’s win, saying the result of the election would not stop “the general trend that the motherland will eventually and will inevitably be reunified”. The spokesperson, Chen Binhua, also claimed the minority result showed the DPP did not represent mainstream public opinion on Taiwan. All major parties reject the prospect of Chinese rule.
Early results showed Lai had won more than 40% of the vote, ahead of Hou You-yi from the opposition Kuomintang (KMT), and the third placed Taiwan People’s party. Pre-election polls had shown Lai with a much narrower lead.
Shortly after being announced as Taiwan’s president-elect, Lai said it was a “victory for the community of democracies” around the world. He said voters had successfully resisted efforts from “external forces” to influence the election, in reference to Beijing’s efforts to have the DPP ousted.

Cultural note for better understanding Chinese culture:

Lai Ching-te in Chinese is 赖清德. Lai赖, the family name of that new chief, meaning "be deliberately dishonest, to cheat, to act shamelessly, be perverse", is not a very good word in Chinese and often used in jokes for fun, the most frequent sample being 你是不是姓赖? (Is your surname Lai?=You are a dishonest person)or 你不如姓赖得了(Why don't you call yourself Mr. /Ms. Lai?=You are a pervert or a dishonest guy).
