::A young lady dressed in a victorian era gown looks around::

my this is a strange land ::she ponders briefly on how she arrived here so far from her home in Rhy'Din::

::slowly she shoulders her small pack, calling her wolf pup to her side and sets off into this strange and faraway land::

The man watched the elegant woman from the edge of the forest and smiled briefly. He knew her but couldn't remember. She moved like something in a dream...he decided that he would meet her at the next turn of the road. He knew it could be dangerous but he didn't care he had to find out who this woman is.

Sibeal:

She let out a piercing whistle. It resembled the sound of a bird, but would produce far more results. The white tiger appeared at her side in an instant.

"You smelled her didn't you, Maven? You smelled her wolf too? Why do you think the Gods have brought her to our home? and the man? He wants to meet her. They have yet to spot us my pet. I don't think our presence will be known yet."

Sibeal followed far enough behind the two with Maven trailing along.

::wanders slowly down the road catching the scent of another, one hand creaping towards a hidden dagger::

SHOW YOURSELF ::the dagger presses into this strangers back:: before i make you an enuch...

He is suddenly awakened from his deep sleep by what sounded like a woman's voice. He wasn't sure if he dreamed it or if it was real. Laying perfectly still so as not to draw any unneeded attention to himself he slowly turned his head to the right. There he saw the ashes from the fire he had made last night and the heads of the fish he had gutted for dinner. Further past the fire was his huge black stallion still tied to the tree. Turning his head back to the left he saw the gently rolling brook where he caught the fish and took a much needed bath. The road was about fifty yards away and completely obscured by thick brush and hughe oak trees. He pulled back the cover and quietly made his way to the edge of the wood to see where the voices were coming from. With his right hand on the hilt of his long sword he gently pulled back the foliage of the thick underbrush to see who was there.

Sibeal:

"Did you hear that, Maven? It sounded like a horse. Go. Find out what it was, but becareful, beauty. You're all I have left."

She watched the cat disappear into the brush. A moment later, a man screamed, and the sound of a sword being drawn.

Sibeal, ran into the brush. "NO!" she screamed. The man was about to disect Maven. She threw herself in front of her pet. "Stop! She won't harm you, I swear it. She's as tame as a ladybug, unless she is protecting me."

The fear in her green eyes must have stayed his hand. He lowered his sword. Her red hair cascading down her back, reflecting the rays of the sun and making it look like fire. "I am Sibeal. Maven and I really meant you no harm. I heard your horse, and thought he might be in danger. I don't like to see animals hurt. Who are you? and why do you travel these roads alone?"

"My name is Aesbus. I am a wanderer."
He left his sword unsheathed and though talking to the woman his eyes never left the large cat still standing in front of him.
"If you would be so kind as to have your cat back away then I will gladly sheath my weapon...until such time I hope you understand my need to keep it drawn."
He finally looked up at the woman. There eyes locked and for a moment Aesbus lost himself in her green eyes. They looked so familiar...as though he'd seen them before... they were beautiful...
Snapping back...he quickly regained himself and hoped she hadn't noticed the stare.
With a soldier's eye he quickly scanned the rest of her body for weapons and such...seeing nothing of apparent danger he began to relax...a little.
"I have no home, I have no family. I only have my horse, Drac, I found him as a young colt and raised and broke him. That was 8 summers ago. We travel alone because I don't need the burden of having to provide for others. It's hard enough to protect myself in this land let alone others who may not be quite as good at combat as I am."

Sibeal:

"Aesbus. An odd name for these parts. It is very dangerous to travel these roads alone. You are more than welcome to travel with Maven and me. Oh dear, I forgot. Maven go, make friends with Drac. She could no more harm that horse, than I could. She's harmless really." Sibeal stood, pacing back and forth. She was suddenly nervous around this man. His dark eyes followed her every move. In her agitation, she tripped on a rock, and fell right in his lap.

"Oh dear..." she didn't get out much more than that, as her eyes locked with his.

::Her ears pick up the horse whinny, ever so feint at first. She growls very lightly at this new intrusion, then stops hearing a female voice::

Go ::she says softly to her eyes and ears; The 984 year old silver wolf "pup" thats been a constant companion throughout her life.:: Mael go

::the pup cocks this head to once side, the bounds into the underbrush, transforming into a large snarling alpha male wolf at the owners of the other pets::

oi vey ::She whispers as she hears the cat hiss. She debates for a moment, her knife still firmly pressed into the other strangers back, leaving Mael to fend for himself for the time being::

Aesbus looked down to put his sword back in its sheath as the large white cat stood down. The red headed beauty in front of him began to pace nervously. His deep brown eyes followed her every move. He let his eyes wander over her long slender, yet very muscular legs. He sat back down near his bedding and reached for his shirt. Maybe the sight of his large naked chest was making her uncomfortable. He had just grabbed his shirt when this woman suddenly fell into his lap.
"Easy there lady!" he said as his large arms cradled her.
She threw her head back and the flaming red her that had fallen in her face fell to one side. He looked down into those eyes again and became lost in there beauty. He suddenly began to feel something stir inside of him that he hadn't felt in ages.
Then without warning through the brush leaped a huge wolf.
Aesbus threw the woman onto the ground and she landed on her butt with a thud and a grunt. In the blink of an eye he was on his feet with his longsword. The muscels on his chest and backed rippled across as he gripped the sword and prepared for a battle.

Sibeal:

It was the "pup" that was traveling with the girl. But now it was a giant male. Maven, tame as she was, saw the threat and jumped between Aesbus and the wolf. They circled each other for a moment, then the wolf was gone. He probably went back to report to the woman.

"Maven!" she was worried about her pet. "Don't you ever scare me like that again. Jumping in the middle like that. I don't know what I would do without you."

"Are you okay?" Aesbus's stong voice traveled over her.

"I'm fine. My butt hurts a little from the landing, and my heart won't seem to slow down, but other than that, I'm just fine. What about you? You're reflexes are very quick. Almost like an Amazon, but they are all women." She looked up into his eyes. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Aesbus said quietly.
Aesbus walked over and grabbed the shirt that he had tried to put on before.
"sorry about throwing you around like that, my reflexes some times get the better of me."
He pulled the shirt down over his head and then pulled his long flowing brown hair back and tied a leather strap around his head to keep out of his eyes.
"I'm going to go and see where that thing came from. You should stay here until I get back." with that he grabbed his longsword and began to walk towards where the wolf had disappeared.
"Oh and tell your cat to watch itself when it jumps in front of me next time, I could have cut that thing in half."
He said, trying to sound put out, hoping that comment would irritate her enough that she would forget about the way he held her and looked into her eyes.

Sibeal:

She watched him go, not bothering to tell him he would never find a giant wolf, only a wolf "pup". What a grouch. Maven had stopped him from killing that wolf and bringing the wrath of the gods down on their heads.

"Follow him. Make sure he stays out of trouble. and keep out of sight."

"Goddess. Please hear my plee. Allow me to return to the home of my birth. To the place of the Amazons. Allow me to take my place as their Queen. Keep me from the arms of this man, my enemy. His touch sets my body on fire, and his eyes stir my soul. When will my quest be over?" she bowed her head in the sunlight and continued to pray.

Aesbus was quickly out of sight of the camp and that woman. Thank the Gods. He needed her out of his head. Who can track something when your not thinking clearly.
He looked down on the ground to find paw prints and other signs of trampling. There...what the...the prints go from large wolf tracks to young pup tracks...this strange land never ceases to amaze me...

He followed the tracks through the brush and saw they led out to the road. As he peered through the brush he saw a young lady holding a man with a knife to his back, at her side was a young wolf pup...probably the same that nearly attacked at the camp. Aesbus couldn't hear the conversation so he started to move to get into a better position to eavesdrop.

:SNAP!:

Aesbus swung around to see what creature had broken the twig. There was nothing there. He crept away from the brush quietly so as not to alert his presence to the woman and the wolf pup.

As he stepped away his foot caught a root...
:SWOOSH:
The next thing he knows he's hanging upside down from a rope connected to a large overhanging branch.

WOW, what a situation...his sword was knocked from his hand and lay 8 feet below him on the ground and he left his daggers and knives in his pack at the camp....
"What do I do? What do I do now?!?" he thought.

Sibeal:

His horse interupted her prayers. He seemed startled, almost fearful. "What is wrong, beauty? What troubles you so?" The answer came to her quickly. Aesbus. His horse must sense some danger to his master. She hurried out of the camp, picking up the staff and dagger she had left in the forrest. She almost giggled when she saw his predicament.

"Well, don't just stand there, woman, do something." he sounded disgruntled.

"I see her trap has caught you. I forgot about them, would have warned you otherwise." this time she did giggle.

All that came from Aesbus was a growl. "Stop that now, it's really nothing serious."

"You are not the one stuck upside down."

"Very well, I will get you down. Now, hold very still."

"Why..." her dagger flew from her hand severing the rope that bound him. He landed on the ground with a thud.

"There now you are on the ground, and can laugh about it." Sibeal went and retrieved her dagger from where it had fallen. When she turned around, Aesbus was stomping towards her. He looked awfully upset.

::pokes the man in front of her once again getting no response:: by the gods..::she swore softly under her breath, realizing she fell under another mage's spell::

::she heard a yelp, then a giggle, turning back to where Mael was tugging on her dress::

::Snickering ever so lightly at the apparent "hung" man:: My my what a big deer i've caught....O what should I do with it? ::She giggles lightly, her voice carrying a soft french accent::

Or is he yours M'Lady? ::looks over to the woman and her cat::

[Edited by Havocman on 06-24-2000 at 12:40 PM]

Aesbus rubbed his backside as he trudged over to the woman. "You could have killed me with that dagger, it missed my foot by mere inches." he shouted at the woman.
She just laughed.
"What is so funny? Do you find my perils amusing? Why didn't you tell me there were traps here before I left.
Now you see, this is exactly why I travel alone."
The woman continued to laugh. This frustrated Aesbus even further. He reached down and grabbed his longsword and turned to see that the woman from the road was now watching this rather humiliating debacle.
"What shall I do with this man? or is it your's m'lady" said the lady with a french accent.
"I belong to no one, and certainly no woman." aesbus answered before he could give the fiery redhead a chance to answer. Now both women began to laugh.
Ignoring the laughter Aesbus looked at the woman from the road with the wolf pup by her side.
"I was coming over to see if you might need some help with your situation, but you clearly have everything under control. So...if you ladies don't mind I'll be on my way, I have much more important matters to attend to." Aesbus said trying to restore this ruined first impression. He rubbed his butt as he walked past sibeal. She just giggled.

Sibeal:

She couldn't help but giggle. He was so funny when he was upset. His pride was in tatters, and that made her laugh harder. Men always got so huffy when their pride was pricked. She winked at the woman with the French accent, using the unspoken language of two women in complete accord, telling her she'd be right back.

"Aesbus! Please, don't go." he kept walking. "Aesbus! Stop! Oh alright, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to laugh, and I didn't almost kill you. A person doesn't need a foot to live." he started walking again. "I was kidding. I knew exactly what I was doing. You were never in any danger, I promise." The look he gave her said he didn't believe her. "Very well, don't believe it. I won't argue with you. Please don't go. I know this place better than anyone. I can take you were you want to go. Will you travel with me? We could ask the woman to come too. People have better chances together than apart. what do you say? Will you come with me?"

Those green eyes.

That red hair.

That gorgeous body.

Aesbus quickly regained composure, was he staring, yes he was. Did she notice yet? He wasn't sure.
He saw her lips moving but didn't hear anything because he was captivated by this woman.

"Well what do say? Will you travel with me?" asked Sibeal with her head cocked sheepishly to the side.

He knew that he would probably need help where he was going. He thought a man might be better suited but the way she handled that dagger told him that she could take care of herself if the need arose. Aesbus figured that the company would be nice, but he knew that he had better keep the emotional wall up with this woman or he would become quickly distracted. She didn't need to know his destination or his quest yet. It would probably frighten her away.

"I lead! We move when I say, we rest when I say! If that doesn't bother you then you are more than welcome to follow along.", He said with the most authoritative voice he could muster, trying not to look at her eyes while he said it.

"And if you're scared to be with me by yourself than you can ask that other woman...(turning to the stranger)I'm sorry I didn't catch your name?... never mind...if you NEED her to come along than that will do as well." Aesbus said turning to walk back to his camp.

"One more thing", turning back to the women, "I'm not chivalrous, I expect you both to carry your load if you come. And if I even see you breathing on my satchel on Drac's back I'll slit you from navel to nose and not think twice about it!!"

"And while we're on the subject of Drac...he is my horse, I ride him, and no one else!"

He turned to walk away sighing a heavy breath hoping that they both were convinced he was rougher than reality.

Eh, isn't a firely little man eh? ::she said to the woman::

::she takes a step closer to the man, her short stature only barely comming up to his chest:: For your information M'Lord, I carry my own weight and i do not ::a smirk comes to her face:: require..anyone to assist me. ::a coy grin comes to her face as she turns away:: You'll find M'Lord, that I'm more then meets the eye....

::she turns back to her camp, picking up her satchel, disappearing into the underbrush:: Now..there's NO way I'm going to travel through this muck in this wretched dress::

::after a few rustlings in the brush, she emerges clad in all black riding breeches and a poets blouse. Pulling up her hood, he was only able to get a quick glint of her golden reddish hair from underneath::

Now M'Lord, are we ready...::her soft violet eyes glint to a golden color:: or do you need more time to recover from you "ordeal"? ::she laughed again, a tiny tip of her fangs glinting in the light::

Oh btw M'lady and..::looks over to the man:: and you...::a smirk plays on her lips:: I am Kassandra Nyte Chavalier from a land called Rhy'din...but please call me Nyte....

::Take's the horses reins from his hand:: Comming?

Aesbus was quite taken by the sudden forwardness of Nyte. In an instant she had gone from a rather cumbersome victorian gown into riding pants and a blouse.
Nyte grabbed the reins from his hand but before she took a step his large hand was wrapped around her wrist.
In a twinkling he yanked the woman around and pulled her to him. There noses were almost touching. He looked down into her violet eyes and glared for a moment.
"No one, and I mean NO ONE!(looking over at sibeal) rides, leads, or touches Drac without my permission."
The gleeful mood suddenly turned somber as Aesbus clearly defined the boundaries.
"Fine M'lord, I was merely poking" said Nyte apologetically.
Aesbus reached down and grabbed the reins that Nyte had dropped while still holding her close. His nostrils caught the scent of a very lovely perfume...it distracted him a moment. With this woman pulled this close he could see the tops of her breasts heaving up and down. Realizing that she saw him staring he released her.
"Now, if there's nothing else we should be going, the second sun will be setting shortly and we have a ways to go yet today...well are you both coming."

Sibeal:

She trailed behind Aesbus and Nyte. He had taken the lead and didn't seem to want her help. Well fine. She wouldn't tell them that they were traveling in circles, that they had passed that same tree three times. They should be making camp soon.

"Well Maven. What do you think of him?" The tiger made a sound resembling a snort.

"My thoughts exactly. What a grouch. He's moody, and stubborn, and boy does he get angry easily." He was also the most handsome man she had ever encountered. He stirred something in her she had never felt before.

"Hell fire and Damnation!" my but he has a colorful vocabulary.

"Problems?" Would he admit he was lost?

"Nothing, we'll make camp here." He dismounted Drac. What a fine stallion. She would love to ride him, just once. Sibeal doubted that would happen.

"I'm going to go and scout. I won't be long." she took off into the woods, Maven following close behind. She need space from this man. Why had she decided to travel with him? It could prove to be one of thee biggest mistakes of her life.

Aesbus was exhausted. He wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Ever since this morning all he could think about was these two women that suddenly happened into his life. And that was the last thing he needed.
Sibeal seemed very put out, and Nyte stayed to herself the rest of the afternoon after his little outburst earlier.
Maybe he laid it on a little to thick.
"Listen..ladies...I just wanted to apologize for my shortness earlier." Aesbus dismounted Drac and gave him a pat on his neck.
"It's been quite a while since I've had the priviledge of being in other peoples company, especially woman."
(and beautiful women at that he thought to himself).
"My manners certainly lacked the refinement that you lasses deserve...so...let me start again. I would be honored if you two would accompany me to...on my journey. Any advice would be welcome."
Sibeal got up and looked at him for a moment.
"I'm going to scout around." and with that she and maven disappeared into the brush.
(well i guess it'll take a little more patching up with her) Aesbus thought to himself.
Nyte just smiled at him and began moving towards him.

::she purred ever so softly in his ear:: one other thing m'lord.....

::sharply she brought up her knee, slamming in his groin. She stepped back with a sastified smirk on her face as he doubled over::

never...and i mean NEVER touch me without my permission again...::she smile oh so sweetly, moving back to fetch her bedroll from the watchful eye of Mael::

::a chuckle, followed by a distinct laugh, stepping out from amid the nearby trees the man leans to one, watching with amusement dancing in his golden eyes:: Oh my dear Nyte, you always put on such a lovely performance. I must applaud for that. ::clapping slowly, the sound dulled by the black leather gloves covering his hands::
::grinning to look over to the other man:: Oh, I know this one, must be careful with her... she's a firey one. ::a wink as he pushes from the tree, his midnight cloak flowing down over that black poet's shirt and ever so perfectly fitting black pants to kiss the edges of his favorite steel tipped boots::
And you my dear Nyte... ::lifting his hand to rest a finger under her chin:: So far away from RhyDin. Gotten lost perhaps? I suppose then I should just have to tag along to see you safely back. ::noting the look of surprise in her eyes at his being there:: And you should know by now... you can't get away from me so easily. ::a chuckle before leaning to kiss her cheek lightly:: I know you too well.
::with that he steps back and looks to the others:: So it's well known, I am Aric Tairwyne, and though I might be new to this place, don't underestimate me. ::hand moving to tug back a side of his cloak, fingers dancing the hilt of his sword:: As Nyte here can tell you... I'm a nasty one to cross. ::chuckling before turning to return to the embrace of the shadows::
