Looking to become a Piercing Apprentice

advice from a piercer.....

it's not that simple darl - you have to actually get out, pound the pavements, and hang around studios you find interesting.
get to know the people, and immerse yourself into the entire scene.

i got my training by making the most anooying pest of myself, and eventually they got sick of me and hired me!

and then the fun started - 18 months of thorough hands-on training, theoretical work, and pathogen control courses.

it's not all great games, there's a lot of serious stuff involved.

and at the end of all that, there's a good chance you won't enjoy the job anyway - you have to have exceptional people-skills, because almost everyone who comes in for a piercing is going to need to see you as a complete professional, who is also totally approachable and can calm their fears.
that is the most difficult aspect of this job.

teens are the worst, they need controlling when they come in, and they are often surprisingly silly about even walking through to the piercing room.

i wish you all the luck, but until you actually get known in the scene, your chances will be very slim indeed.
