Hi folks. I've been trying to find a long lost story and I'm hoping that someone can save me from going insane.
Does anyone remember reading a story about an exchange student who went to France? There she stayed with a local who was learning about an ancient woman's magical power (I want to say that the ancient person's name was Bethany, but I'm not 100% on that detail). I remember there being a scene at a cemetery where both girls visit said person's grave. The local girl eventually uses that power to transform the exchange student into a french girl who knows broken english. Her body loses her athletic tone. The local girl makes her into a maid for the house. Eventually the travel to America together.
