Need a little advise here. I have a long lost friend I want to make contact with.
Here is the deal. I worked with this person years ago, partied hard with him, Hung out at his place and he at mine. He knows my wife and family.
He played in a band all the time I knew him. His parents moved to Fla. Leaving him and his brother up here in Pittsburgh. He stayed here for a few more years then decided to move south to hang with his family also.
Now when he moves I loss touch with him. Here is where it gets somewhat interesting.
Still wanting to play in a band he hooks up with some kids from Bocko Retone? (Sp) in Fla. By now you might be catching where this is going.
There was a band that made it big time from there … Yes Match box 20 My Buddy is Paul Doucette the drummer in the band. Now him hitting the big time I figured folks would come out of the wood works to claim they knew him. I just took a backseat and didn’t try to catch up with him. He did well for himself and I didn’t want to look like I wanted to “Hang with the band” Now years latter I’d love to hook up with him and drink a beer with him. I admit that meeting the band would be neat but really isn’t my intentions at all.
So how do I get in touch with him? I found tons of stuff on the web about him and the band. How do I start? I still don’t want to come off like I’m looking for something from him. I just would love that beer and to be able to shake his hand and say good job dude you have done well.

Any advise how to do this or handle it?

Surprisingly, i've recently been in sort of a similar situation...not quite, but sort of. One of my brother's old friends is a musician and has started to get national attention. While most people wouldn't know his name, he has been invited to tour with a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR (think Rock and Roll Hall of Fame type living legend) star. I recently asked my brother to see if he would pass on an email to see if he would be touring near me...both so i could see him (i've known him since i was a kid but haven't seen him in a few years) and to see if i could come to the concert (it was sold out). Well, turns out he won't be on my leg of the tour, but i basically stressed that i would like to see him and show him a good time around town while he was here, but i also asked if he had any pull with tickets.

I think it would be a good idea to tell him, "Hey, i'm sorry i lost touch with you. I guess i owe you a dinner next time you're in town." I'm not sure if they're on tour, but maybe you could come to a show and just let him know that you'll be there. Remember, he's still a regular guy and will probably be glad to hear from you. I think you've waited long enough for the hype to die down a little bit. If you wanted something from him, you would have been on the phone when they had their first platinum record.

P.S. It's Boca Raton
