Looking for friends?

Most (many, a few?) of us are here to be sociable, and to talk about stuff vaguely related to writing. If people persist in sending you unwanted PM'S, you can hit the ignore button.
Or report them to the site, if they persist. I expect most unwanted approaches aren't from writers at all, but from forum lurkers, seeing a new poster who has identified their gender.

I felt that way also but then I realized I really didn't give a shit.

Also I never got an In Box full of pussy pictures either. I did get one of a cute fuzzy kitty.

It's all in perspective.

I had no idea my gender would even put a target on me. I feel dumb 😅
Unfortunately, yes it does. Account holders who identify their gender in their profile, always report higher levels of harassment compared to male identifiers. Neutral account names like mine create distance. Those here who know me, know I'm male, but many on first glance think I'm a woman. That's based on my avatar, I suspect, but that's in fact a book cover.

Welcome, btw :)

I get a fair bit of, "Hey, I see you're online and in the UK too." No real harassment, though, so maybe that's the benefit of not stating my gender.

I'm pretty unapologetically weird in my responses (90% of which are meant to be read in a sarcastic tone) on the board.

I think I scare people...

Can't imagine why. I'm just a girl. :) <-- see smiling and everything. Totally harmless.
But see, the 'totally harmless' bit is very likely in that 90% sarcasm zone, so... 🤷‍♀️;)

Harley Quinn spends a lot of time smiling.

Thanks for the assessment and welcome 🤗
