Aside from contacting a volunteer editor, is there anywhere else i can post a story and get feedback for it?

The only place on Literotica that you should post a story for feedback is the story file itself. If you can't readily find an "editor" (and many of those offering editorial services won't know anything more about editing than you do--although another pair of eyes is always useful), you could go ahead and submit it to the story file. I would imagine that only a small percentage of those submitting stories here got them "edited" first anyway.

Why... Do you want the feedback...?

Do you want to know if your story is any good...

There's always plenty of critics (not just here - everywhere!) who will quickly tell you what they hate.

Can you be more specific about what you're looking for as far as feedback is concerned?

D.

Almost every writer knows when he's produced a marvel, others may be clueless of the merits or they may have suggestions to make the story better, but most of us know crap from good.

If you don't know good from crap don't submit till you know its good.

The best question to ask may be: HOW DO I MAKE MY STORY BETTER?

Sorry for the late update. Basically i was looking for feedback on things like writing style or ideas to make the story better.

Not sure what you meant by story file?

Let me suggest that you collect and catalogue interesting tidbits from experience, prescription, and media. Interesting material falls from the sky all the time.

Like: A local mom & pop police station shackled a drunk, put him in a chain-link cage, and forgot about him for almost 3 days...Friday till Monday. He soiled his clothes, had nothing to drink the whole time, and the heat was off. The plan was to book him at the jail but it never happened, and no one thought to check on the guy. The police obsess over traffic fines as there is no real crime in Mayberry. The pen is out in the garage and Cooter the mechanic was gone till Monday morning.

It must be the wrong time of the month for sr.

There are alternatives. You could post 2 or 3 paras in story feedback and ask for comments.

You could ask in story feedback .

Or just post your story on the site and ask on SF for comments.

What do you mean by SF?

SF is "Story Feedback," which is another forum on Literotica.

You could also go to the Editor's Hangout (EH), and at the top of that forum is usually a sticky (a permanent post) where people post to let others know they are available to edit. You're more likely to get a response if you contact someone there, since at least they are active and checking in.

Or you can post in the EH yourself that you need some editing help. Whether you post yourself or ask someone, remember to include the category of your story (Romance, Incest, etc.), how many words, what you'd like help with (punctuation, grammar, characterization), and when you'd like to get the edit back.
