G'day all. I'm somewhat new to literotica as a member/writer. Not sure if this is the correct way to go about things and if not, I apologize. Let me know and I will correct this.

As the title says, I am looking for an editor that is ok with heavy bdsm and dark romance. Meaning someone that is ok with subjects like non-con, kidnapping, toxic obsession/love, knife play, gun play, minor blood play and other themes along those lines. If any of that might bother you, please do not reply.

At the time of this posting, I only have one writing ready to be edited and it is mostly a disclaimer post to start off a series. It's about 450 words. The main goal of this post is to find an ongoing editor to look over future writings. As a heads up, I don't have great grammar (this post is about what you can expect from me). I write for fun and to vent so things like grammar and punctuation don't mean much to me.

Most of my writings are done spur of the moment and are rarely more than 1,000 words. At times I have an odd and particular "style" I am going for and don't want heavy editing as proper sentence structure ruins the point of the writing (think maniacal writing that is pure raw thoughts and turns into one massive running sentence). I do have plans for more lengthy and more properly structured writings, but that will be discussed when the time comes.

With the holidays coming up, I have no real goals or expectations of my editor. I know things are going to be hectic for the next two months for most people. Since my writings are typically short, I would like a relatively small turnaround time (a week at most is ideal), but honestly if you stay in touch and notify me of what is going on, I'm fine waiting a bit longer.

Thanks for looking over my post. If you are interested in editing my stuff, please check out my profile (just to get a better idea of me) and send me a message. Take care all!

@BowsersThots don't know if you've gotten any DM's but I see no one's responded. I think editors are in somewhat short supply and the pieces you describe probably don't fit well here. The site is more friendly to, say, incest than subjects like non-con, kidnapping, etc. And plenty of people here won't be interested in helping create such works.

And the lengths you describe are short. Most reader's are looking for stories or installments more in the 5k - 7k range (which would be a couple 3.5K pages) with some people looking for much longer works. I wondered why you cannot edit yourself in pieces < 1000 words.

Finally, when you say "proper sentence structure ruins the point of the writing" that really discourages me from editing for you. I think if you're aspiring to that kind of artistry, you either need to have enough acumen to pull off the effect you want, without an editor (you know, you need to know the rules before you start breaking them to be artistic), or you need to use the English you were taught in school.

Oh yea, I know that my writings won't be very popular on Lit and I'm not worried about it. My kind of work is more popular on other sites, but on those sites, there are too many minors or (in case of tumblr) my blog can get shut down and I simply lose everything I wrote. I'm honestly only using lit just to log my stuff. I have gotten some response's and have started working with an editor though.

My writings are incredibly short, which is why I have never used Lit and don't want to, but I don't really see other options I am comfortable with. Regarding editing for myself, I agree with you, but I'm not competent at it and easily miss what is a blaring mistake to you. When I was posting on tumblr I didn't use an editor, but here on Lit there is a higher standard and if something is poorly edited it gets kicked back. So, I need one even if my writings are short.

When I talked about proper sentence structure ruining what I am going for, I didn't properly explain and have gotten a few questions about it. I didn't mean to imply no editing at all, just loose editing on certain parts.

Here's an example I gave,

Sometimes it's hard being me. Having this obsessive compulsive thoughts. The smallest thing can set them off to. Like shoelaces. I see your shoelaces aren't tired properly, not untied or loosely tied, incorrectly tied. Then I have the urge to make you stop no matter what we are doing so I can tie them for you, but I can't because you aren't my sub, just a co-worker and that frustrates me and annoys me and not because I want to own you, but because you clealry need someone to help watch over you and take care of you and the Daddy in me just needs to help you, but I also want to punish you because how do you not know how to properly tie your shoe it's the most basic simpke thing ever do i have to take you out back and show you how to do it then beat your ass and make you tie shoes all day until you know how to do it right?
If I could just take you and make you mine, then it would all be well and we would just be so happy.

In this example, I'm trying to convey a lot of intensity and a nearly manic thought process. As the writing goes, clear rational thought breaks down and it becomes just a psychotic mess of nonstop thoughts. Then toward the end, at the question mark, it's like taking a deep breath and getting yourself back under control. Now if you were to go through and start properly editing it, adding in commas, semicolons, periods or whatever else to it, I feel it would lose that intensity I was trying to convey because then it feels controlled and rational. There are obviously a lot of spelling errors and other errors in there as well, so I don't mean to not edit it at all, but to not ruin what it is.

Anyways, I'm fairly certain that Lit isn't the place for me, but I just want a place to log my stuff without losing it and to share with some people, that's all. I do appreciate the response and advice though @darwin1859 Thank you and have a good evening (or whatever is appropriate for your time zone).

I'm sorry if I was unclear; by "probably don't fit well here," I meant that I doubt you will get accepted to publish here. This story doesn't meet the length requirement (>= 750 words) in the submission guidelines and I don't know if it meets the content guidelines. So, that would also discourage an editor from working with you

I don't know why you need an editor? Or why your Google drive isn't a good place to log your stuff? But maybe google "archive of our own." Because while they specialize in "fanfic," they interpret that so broadly that it encompasses anything (e.g., your work creates it's own Original Works fandom) and they seem to have little in the way of content guidelines. Almost no one will read your stories there, but you say that's not an issue.

I didn’t realize there was a minimum word count. So yea that kills it lol.

I refuse to use Ao3. From what I have seen and heard, that site is pretty much for minors and is the majority of the users. I’d rather not upload anything ever then use Ao3.
