I've tried using the google method to locate a story with out any luck.
a husband discovers his wife (a librarian, or works in a library?) is having an affair and leaves her. Somehow thru the story the man rescues his wife from a flooding river, and is later rescued from the river by his daughter. As I remember the story was pretty long (searched novels), hardly any sex in the story (searched non erotic), and the wife cheated (searched loving wives).
Can anybody help?
