Need help finding this one. It’s a guy meets alien girl story.
Set in rural USA. A guy is blindsided by his overbearing wife who wants to trade up. She has a boyfriend who was a high school romance. They hook up and she cheats on the main character. She leaves and divorces hubby and takes him to the cleaners destroying his reputation in the town.
One night when driving he comes across the woman in a silver suit wandering about lost. He helps her bringing her home and finds she has certain powers. I think she is on the run from her planet.
The hubby and her hook up and live together. Meanwhile his ex has become a society mover and shaker because of her new husbands wealth and position, the two of them continually disparage and put down her ex every chance they can get and make his life a misery.
There is a big dance planned and the ex wife is setting it up to make her name in the town.
In past he always took his wife to the dance but hasn’t gone to it since his divorce.
His beautiful alien GF persuades him to take her and they become the belles of the ball. She also shows up and shames out his ex and the rich jock making fools of them.
The tables are turned…….
That’s as far as l remember. I think her people come for her and he returns to her planet but come back to Earth. Or, she returns to her planet but returns to him
