I'll try to recount what I remember:
- A woman goes to a bar (or maybe party) and meets a hypnotist (also a woman, I think)
- A character is hypnotized to not be able to speak. This metaphor/imagery is that of grasping at books on a shelf (or maybe grasping at words themselves?) and not quite reaching them
There was a second part (or maybe separate story by the same author (or, but I really don't think so, I'm confusing something unrelated)):
- A woman wakes up in a chair, unable to move. There is another woman there, they have both been hypnotized to be puppets/dolls
- They are linked such that they each feel touches on the other's body
I know this isn't a lot to go on, but hopefully someone will know of it. Thank you!
