The UK better batten down the hatches! Blu is on her way! In just two short little weeks I am going to be out an on my own in the big cities. Okay I will be on my own in London and Derby, so big and semi big?

Soooo... does anyone have any ideas for me? Things to do or see? I am open to suggestions. :D

Thanks Perksilicious! I admit I am a little bummed. Original plans fell through but I am rallying back and looking to go have some fun and relaxation.

Wanna go with me?

Welcome, welcome!

Big and tiny...but Derby is a lovely city...we always have a great time there...are you using it for a base to explore the Peak District?:D

I am using it for something. [laughs]

My original plans have fallen through and thanks to the lovely fact that in order to get the lowest rate, one must get a nonrefundable hotel room.... well as you can see Derby is where I shall be staying for 4 days or so. I have gotten tips on Birmingham and Nottingham... I am afraid the Peak District is a bit far for me as I do not plan on renting a car. Trust me the last thing you guys need is me driving on the wrong side of the road. ;)

So again, any thoughts on things to do or see... I am wide open!

I lived in London and came from the Derby area, pm me I can tell you anything you need to know and make recommendations

Yeah, get on over here! Room for one more.

Don't know much about Derby but if you like the outdoors, in London I can recommend Kew Gardens. I love it there.

If you're a whisky fan, Milroy's in Soho is tiny but great.

There used to be a great Blues Bar in Soho called Ain't Nothin But. Live music every night. Really friendly place. I haven't been there for years.

Thanks guys! But this post was from 5 years ago. :D

I went to Derby and London and had such a fabulous time, I went back again 2 years ago.

But please, if you have recommendations, bring 'em on. I might be going back to London in a year or so.

Oh and advice for cultural customs would be helpful. First time I went, I almost got in a brawl with someone over a shopping cart at Aldi's. I didn't know y'all had to pay for your carts.

I don't know about advice on avoiding fights. 2-3 a day is normal round these parts...

The look on the guy's face when I went to snag his cart as he was coming out was priceless. Luckily I had a friend with me to explain that I was a typical stupid American.

You're lucky you didn't get a Glasgow Kiss 😊
