She showed up on our doorstep today. She sure is a cutie. The longer we have her the more I hope we don't find her owners (although we are trying).

Wiggles, thanks for your concern. The tag is from out of state and the number is not in service. We tried that first. Then we took her on a long walk around the neighborhood, knocking on doors. One woman said she saw the dog a week ago and gave it water.

We're going to make up flyers to put them around the neighborhood, put an ad in the paper and alert the local shelter that we have her.

If she has a loving family that misses her, I truly hope we can reunite them.

Freaky, yes, she is a golden and I pegged her at under a year also.

What's funny is I've had golden's for years now, my last one is 12 and my husband has been pushing me to get another one, but I've felt to overwhelmed with the kids lately so I said no.

Of all the breeds in the world, this cute, sweet as pie golden has to show up on my door.

What is the name of the shelter? My oldest sister manages a vet clinic here so she might be able to help out with an old tag?

Also the dog could have a "chip" in her. If you take her to a vet they can scan for it. If she does have a chip it will contain all her info.

If I email you the address, will you drive over and see if they've lost a dog in NV?

But only knock if it looks like a good home. If there is any evidence of dogs chained up in the front yard, keep driving.

Dont worry Ruby, if it is a shanty of any kind I will keep on driving! Being a HUGE animal lover I would sooner let you have that pup than anyone who might not be offering them a good home.

Isn't the internet amazing? I find a dog with a tag from five states over and someone right here lives 5 minutes away from the actual town!

If she does have a good home with people who love her and miss her, I have to do what I can to get her home.

If not, she already has my heart.

Well, we found her people. They live just up the street from us. Nice family with lots of kids who love her. Lila seemed really happy to see them.

Even though you found the dog's family you did the right thing as a person should. My uncle had a dog show up at his place quite a few yrs ago. It was an Akita and that is a very expensive dog and they looked for over 2 months for its owner.
After 2 yrs the owner showed up it seems the owners lost "Duke" from a Show 2 yrs before. Even after that length of time my Uncle was willing to give him up but after they found out how much the vet bills were and throwing in the feed and such they changed their minds. So my Uncle ended with Duke but like you he did the right thing and tried to find the owners.
Maybe this was a sign that your going to get another Golden for yourself and you just may have made some new friends in the process.
