I've been working on a Novella for a couple of weeks now, and I'm at chapter 5. Roughly 18147 words. How much is too much for the readership here?

To this point it has covered a couple of generations with about 40 characters, some of them are not covered in depth. About 6-10 main characters at this point.

Hard to generalize. Some like 'em big and some like 'em small. However, anyone that makes it through all that is more likely to vote.

Like was said, it's hard to generalize. For my part, nothing is too big, if it's good. If the story is all good quality and in the direction I like, then the more the merrier. Usually, though, it is difficult to write something big and good at the same time. More often than not, you'd exhaust your creative ideas, after which the story becomes merely an empty shell which is only a little more exciting than reading a banking statement. :)

Best of luck with that story!

I'm still getting a hard-on as I write, so I'm liking it. Its taking longer to finish though, and if I take a break from it, I might loose interest in the idea.

I think it's a good long story with character that don't flip-flop from one attitude to the next, but they grow. Lot's of sex screen without the same thing happening.

I'm hoping that the readership would like a long story.

I to have a novella underway. I'm over 100 Word pages, with a major clomax yet to come.

My solution wil be to split it into chunks to submit as segments or chapters. I was think 4, now 5 or 6. That will make each stil about 8 Lit pages. I have read some that long.

Thanks, I was thinking about that too. I think I will. I hit 99 pages last night going starting chapter 6. It's 19169 words, I double space for editing. Any idea how many words per page on Lit, of hand?

I've never tried to estimates by words, since it varies depending on how much dialogue etc.

The Word to Lit ratio also seems to vary from 3 to 5 Word pages per Lit page- might depend on font, etc. If you figure 750 words per Word page ( a high estimate), that means a Lit page is about 4000 words, but I am just guessing.

edit:

I just pasted a page of a 2 page Lit story into Word. Page one text was 4003 words.

That's cool, thanks. I was thinking of doing that, but I'm at work and the graphic banners could compromise me.
