Lonely Road (Closed for me JustyW & Trailryder)
Night. Darkest night. Only the constant sound of the tires on the pavement, the jarring sounds of heavy metal from the radio (I hate heavy metal, but the shit keeps me awake), the flash of headlights on signs ... Only these for company.
My long blonde hair is tied back in a pony that reaches halfway down my back. I'm in sweatpants, tennis-shoes, and a t-shirt. My winter jacket is in the seat beside me, because while the snow swirls lazily outside, within the heater is cranked at it's a pleasant 80 degress.
Bismarck, 80 miles. Shit. Keep going. Keep going.
Bismarck, 60 miles. Where did the 20 miles go? No time passed, but 20 miles sure did!
I pull over, or next time I black out I'll wake up in an emergency room in Nowhere North Dakota.
I yawn. Am I in North or South Dakota? Hell, for all I know I'm in Wisconsin!
60 miles to Bismarck. 60 miles. One hour. But I have to get some sleep.
3:30 am. OK, just relax. Lay back. Eyes start to close. Sleep until dawn, then drive the rest of the way. Nate and Amanda will understand. Better this than having them ID me in some small-town morgue.
Then ... bright lights right behind me. I can't tell if it is a truck, or a car with high-beams on. I sigh. What the hell?
(OOC: This thread is now closed for myself, JustyW, and Trailryder. Where the road takes the three of us, who knows.
)
