I have four, and I definitely hit “too many” at three, haha.

We had 1, but my wife wanted to foster some cats from the rescue shelter so we ended up with 8 more; a mother and 7 cute kittens! It was hectic for the month or so that we had them, but they eventually all got adapted. We kept two that had bonded together and they still chase each other around the house (last night it was 4 am). From the foster experience we learned that kittens have vastly different personalities, and the two that we kept, actually chose us.
