lol hot

You guys are upset about a beautiful woman posing in the surf? Freaks! Obviously I object to the objectification. Because. So there. But still, freaks.

Help me out here...

Isn't one of the tenants of the religion that women can't be around men who aren't family members?

And, isn't there a tenant against exposing their bodies in public?

And one against promiscuity and/or sexual enticement?

Similar observation in the comments at the bottom of the article..

Maybe next month they can feature someone who's had acid thrown in their face for their refusal to wear the compulsory garb

No, we're bitching about her covering up her beauty with 7th Century bathing attire that has no place on a traditional SI cover. This addition should be released in the Middle East. Not here in a much more advanced and Pervy America.:D;)

Muslim women went swimming in the ocean in skintight lycra in the 7th century? You learn something new every day!

It says in the Bible that you can't wear blended fabrics. I think most sane people in the modern world accept that religious texts can be taken and applied in many ways.

Cotton/poly-blends are an Abomination before God.

Honestly, none of you guys have ever actually known any Muslims, have you? Let alone had Muslim friends. Or spent time with a Muslim family. You see them all as two headed aliens that eat babies.

Nice marketing ploy, SI.

Now grown men who haven't bought a swimsuit issue since their teens are interested.

lol

Or hoping that the controversy would lead to more attention to a magazine?

Because what's weird about the pic is that: She wears an outfit that was conceived to cover women from the gaze of men.
But her poses are quite sexual.

I can't see Muslim husbands being happy about the connotation & jumping in to buy it for their wives.

Yup.
I'm finding hard to follow the thought process of the SI team.

They're lopping off the heads of gays in Saudi Arabia; executioner hiring boom...

Wonderful people.
Fantastic culture.
Special religion.

:nods:

One might even posit that there are beaches in the world that she would dare not spread out provocatively on, even with modest dress and not be set upon by the state-sponsored religious morality police squad...

Yup.
I'm finding hard to follow the thought process of the SI team.

They wanted people to view the pictorial and spread the word so others would do the same.

The jury is still out, but I think they may have a winner.

What do you mean? To increase sales?
I would say that was a smart move, the controversy Did move SI out of the obscurity it was starting to slide in.

I'm just having a hard time figuring out their intent re the SJW part.

Most commentators assumed that they wanted to lobby for Muslims and against Islamophobia.

But I can't imagine many Muslim being stoked about seeing such a sexualized depiction of the hijab, on the cover of a mag. that men browse in order to jerk off. It contradicts what the hijab stands for.

Yup.

I agree, it is a bit hard to follow what the idea is here. I guess its just to be inclusive, even though it doesn't make much sense. Personally, I think she is a beautiful woman. However, I am a bit worried that for the Muslim extremists, this will still be unacceptable and I fear that she could face some backlash. I hope SI keeps that in mind.
