Logic VS Name calling

In sifting through posts on the GB I have noticed with no surprise that there are divergent viewpoints. In itself that could be a healthy thing. But there is something very unhealthy taking place. Typically those indoctrinated with "Liberal" ideology seem to lean heavily upon the following list of negative energy tools:

1. Name Calling

This is not the first time I have encountered this "name calling VS logic" method. It was rather common on the playground when I was 7 years old.

So, I am curious about the core reason that Liberals are so quick to insult the intellect of those with a different perspective and why they resort to name calling as their primary tactic. I welcome meaningful observations that can help explain this pattern behavior.

In my observation, it crosses party lines and is more closely and accurately linked to being American, male, over 50 with no sex life.

Liberals only ???

Hmmm lets see is Klinkster? a liberal, is HiArpy?, is Bigsly? is Conager?...is Icanhelp? BB? or the Bot?... I could list on....

NO there is lots of name calling that falls to a grade school level here, on all front by many posters of many different political view points and countries.

I too have on the odd occasion fallen to that immature level as well. Though for the most part I make a conscious effort avoid childish actions.

I do not feel feel pointing out stupidity, or calling out racism as "name calling". Though those on the receiving end may disagree....chuckles

It is a because their polity is emotion-based.

It's how you 'feel' about an issue and your feelings
are altruistic, caring and centered upon doing good
for all of life's victims of outrageous fortune.
(It's a mindset which lends itself to the virtue-signal.)

Anyone who does not feel as you do, however,
is outrageous fortune incarnate; a modern-day Hitler.

If people had been more rhetorically nasty,
Nazis would have never had been a thing.
I.e., winning the war or words prevents
the war of worlds...

You must bring your passion; it's your A-game.
(A as in asshole)

With the exception of trolls who do this as a matter of course in order to get attention, people get caught up in their own narrative to the point that they invest themselves in it.

What happens when they get trapped by the logical inconsistencies of that narrative is the tell.

  • Some will admit that they were wrong.
  • Some will defend their narrative invested personalities.
  • Some will run away from the challenge they themselves created in order to completely avoid the conflict over their inconsistencies.

There is no political position that is immune from this. All sides of any debate engage in this behavior. Then the trolls show up.

Just admit it.
You're epically wrong.

I agree

This is a meaningful answer. I agree that this same childish approach is not limited to "liberals." It is a form of negative energy and is destructive regardless of the "side" a person may seem to be on. I think that mature people that want productive dialogue on topics should strive rise above such a childish and emotional approach.

Cunt.

To all assholes on the GB...

“I’ll beat thee, but I would infect my hands.”

“I scorn you, scurvy companion. “

“More of your conversation would infect my brain.”

“That trunk of humours, that bolting-hutch of beastliness, that swollen parcel of dropsies, that huge bombard of sack, that stuffed cloak-bag of guts, that roasted Manningtree ox with pudding in his belly, that reverend vice, that grey Iniquity, that father ruffian, that vanity in years?”

“Thou leathern-jerkin, crystal-button, knot-pated, agatering, puke-stocking, caddis-garter, smooth-tongue, Spanish pouch!”

Thank you, Shakespeare!

Are not at all liberals.

That's because the typical response to logic by those who can't refute it is name calling.

Most folks aren't willing to admit they are wrong when proven so.

Hmmm lets see is Klinkster? a liberal, is HiArpy?, is Bigsly? is Conager?...is Icanhelp? BB? or the Bot?... I could list on....

HisArpy? Moderate liberal.
Bigsly? Radically liberal....liberal extremist.
Conager.....moderately so.
Ican....moderately so.
SpearChucker....liberal.
BB...not so much.
Me.....also a moderate liberal.

Actual liberal, not the authoritarian leftist still hiding behind the term....most have had enough honesty to adopt the term "progressive".

On this we agree.
