It's the perfect time to join "Loa Blood", a serious, dramatic super-hero story. Players' have had a really great time with this one, we've got a cool story gong, and new players are always welcome.

Returning writers, please post bios for current characters in this thread, and I'll start up the IC thread. Wheee!

It's an analagous, contemporary world. So there's police, pop-stars, slurpees, a violent history of racism and oppression, all the good stuff you know from our world, except the shapes of the continents is different, and the names of the countries, races, religions, etc. are all changed.

35 years ago, scientists discovered the bodies of giant (Godzilla-sized) aliens (Loa) buried under the antarctic ice. According to what's been deciphered of the aliens' records, they created the Earth, seeded it with life, and then left, leaving a dozen of their dead and a few impossibly huge buildings in the antarctic.

Religious people, particularly followers of the Wheel, are upset with the revelation that their version of history and creation has been proven false. Many of the new generation worship the Loa as gods.

Science has taken a great leap forward, as researchers studying the Loa Blood extracted from the alien site have discovered miracle medicines, non-polluting fuels, and other good things.

The catch is that anyone physically exposed to the Blood mutates. Usually they die. Sometimes they live, but are changed forever (like the guy with toasters for hands). Very rarely, they are Gifted with powerful superhuman abilities drawn from their own subconscious.

10 years ago, the nation of Locrir fell under control of a warmongering dictator.

5 years ago, a research station on Dracon Island exploded, exposing everyone on the island to the Blood, killing most of them. Many refugees were evacuated to nearby Bay City, and the island has been sealed off, left to the mutated monsters too insane and dangerous to evacuate.

4 years ago, Bay City was leveled in a super-battle between the murderous Crusher and the Coda "super-hero" Monolith. The Crusher was imprisoned on Dracon Island, and all the monsters on the island were sealed under a GAIA prototype force-field. During his rampage, the Crusher raped and impregnated Nia, who gave birth to twins Valous and Leos. Nia gave up the twins for adoption.

3 years ago, Monolith appeared again, in Bay City's ruins, to stop an army of invading Antmen. Monolith destroyed the Antmen, but created an earthquake that destroyed the city.

Leos was sold into a Cold Blood fighting pit, but rescued and raised by GAIA.

Valous was kidnapped by agents of the Pyramid, and was imprisoned in Amun.

A few days ago, Valous' astral form escaped from the Pyramid, although her body is still imprisoned there.

Nia has been training with Cold Blood ninja. She just discovered that Valous was kidnapped from her adopted parents.

New characters are welcome. Characters can be Gifted (people with superpowers), but shouldn't be too powerful. Think Daredevil power level. Most of them will be Dracon Island refugees.

Remember, lots of mutations are pretty useless. I'd love to see a character with a stupid toaster-hands or telepathy-with-fish kind of power, if you're prepared to deal with it in a serious way.

High-tech types are also okay, including robots, cyborgs, gadgeteers, etc.

Normal human characters are totally encouraged. Anything, rock stars, politicians, cops, street kids, gangsters, reporters, doctors, scientists, taxi drivers, athletes, priests, old ladies, whatever.

I can't stress enough that while this is a super-hero story, starting characters are not super-heroes yet. You're just a person who may have recently aquired super-powers, but you shouldn't have any kind of reputation yet. And so far there's very few code-names and no capes.

Glossary

Amun Island: Ancient belief in many animalistic gods. Loa experiments on humans. Home of the Pyramid, where Valous' body is imprisoned.

Argo: Eastern continent. Largest, most powerful country. Bay City is on the south-west coast, near Dracon Island. Home of the Coda Corporation. Argons have coal-black skin with flecks of gold.

Aralia: Part of the Argon supercontinent. High technology. Many Aralian immigrants to Argo have formed the Killer Bee gang. Aralians have silver hair. (Nikki Hall)

Reva: Part of the Phyrygian continent. Allied with Locrir. Home of GAIA. Valous is here.

Sejeala: Small country north of Argo. known for its martial arts. Home of the Church of the Wheel, and the Cold Blood Ninja. (Kell Claudas)

Svetla: Southern continent with a land bridge to Argo. Made up of many small countries, all poor, overpopulated, arrid. Svetlanders have blood-red skin.

Val: Small country north of Argo. known for its martial arts. Worship hero gods different from the Loa or the Wheel. (Nia)

Weavers: Nomadic people who came to Svetla from the northern countries like Sejeala and Aralia. They have pale skin and red hair, and are known for their mysticism.

Wheel (The): Major world religion. Has come into question since the discovery of Loa disproves the Wheel's version of history, humanity and God.

Summary and Bios

This is subject to change when I find my original post.

Name: Nia Cresent
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Eyes: Violet
Hair: Silver 1 inch past her shoulders
Skin: white

Powers: 2 fighting styles listed in history. Her body heals any damage in a matter of minutes, hours, or in the worse cases days. She also doesn't require food for herself, with a notable exception of while pregnant.

History: This is quite long and may be worth skipping.

Prestory: Nia was born on Val the middle child of three, older brother and a younger sister. Her family was upper middle class but always chased for better status then they had. A noble tradition is that the oldest child attends martial arts training.

Nia's older brother, Jei ,was trained in a style based on reading a foes moves and reacting accordingly (Wahen), after a training mishap it fell to Nia to keep the family's honor. Her family in there dishonor had to send her to a small island north of Dacron island to train under a different master then her brothers, the style this time was one of flashy aggressive moves for multiple opponents (Marza).

When Dracon island exploded Nia found herself cursed a Loa contamination and trapped among monsters for two days. She managed to escape to bay city and repressed the memories of the experience best she could, and knew she could not return home.

Instory so far: After some trouble with the law she escaped while the police where distracted with Crusher. After being asked by a GAIA official to delay the crusher with the help of other gifted until monolith could arrive, she quickly found her clothing lacking and in front of an all too fertile Crusher.

She severed her contact with the GAIA official and found work at a small convince store, she room mated with a gifted named Danny, who could turn herself into five flamingos each a different shade of the rainbow. Fearing her unborn children, she often fought suicidal urges..

Do to a turn of events she met a man named Otto, who took her to a concert promoting unity between gifted and humans. It was here during the preformance of a gifted named Symphony, who backed her up in Delaying the Crusher, she decided her children would not be monsters. She gave birth and named her children after the two main val gods, Valous and Leos. ) She gave up her children with out looking at them, feeling she did not have the honor to be a parent.

Otto brought Nia into a training dojo and after a sparing match gifted her a set of sais and asked her to become an instructor at the place. Nia refused feeling she lacked honor but was eventually convinced by Otto to join. Later she found out that she was training Cold Blood Ninja and has had conflicted feelings since.

On a business trip with Otto she came to the town where Valous's parents where reported to live. Otto shared this information he had uncovered, and while telling herself she wouldn't act on the information she found herself there. She has just found out her daughter was kidnapped months before hand. (And that her daughter's name was Valous and not Leos, probably a hospital mishap, or a small oversight by ST.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Valous Surgeon
Age: 1 1/2, astral form looks 16.
Gender: Female
Eyes: Red
Skin: pale white
Hair: Silvery brown reaches her knees.
Powers: She projects and astral form which can become semi physical for a length of time. She can fly in either form but is faster in astral form. In the past she had limited forms of telekinesis and telepathy, neither power has worked since her astral form escaped.

Weaknesses: Her mind didn't develop uniformly, the vast majority of the time she thinks like a teenager but often she finds herself thinking like an infant and she has very little understanding of machines. Physical astral form can only be maintened for a few hours, and those few hours can be shortened by adding strong forces like a punch and bullet or a greater force is enough to shatter the physical form. Her biggest weakness is that she has no contact with her body hidden deep in a prison in a machine her astral form can not (re)enter.

History: in story: She and her brother, Leos, are the first born with two gifted parents. The result of their mothers rape by their father. Shortly after conception her father was locked behind a force field on dracon island. After birth her mother gave her and her brother up for adoption. Valous went one way and Leos went another, despite this Valous wants little more then to find her own family.

Valous's desire to find her parents and brother was so strong she arranged her own kidnapping. A man who had a computer chip in his brain was kind enough to rescue her after Valous appeared and convinced him in her teen form. The poor man did the best he could to care for her but was quickly relieved of that duty by two men in jackal armor from Phrygia. The man did his best to save her but was defeated and Valous was taken to Reva and imprisoned with many other Loa gifted.

About a year later she escaped during some sort of disturbance that effected the power of her cell. Her body was hooked up to many machines and she was forced to leave it behind. She quickly found herself alone in the desert.

Mary "Can't be anything but myself" Monroe
Race: Human
Place of Birth/Age: Unknown

Power: Mary can, via her will, shift her shape to any age between 10 and 80. Her basic features remain the same, delicate bone structure, jade green eyes, honey-gold hair (except as it silvers towards older age).

Her basic mass stays the same at about 85 lbs, however, and it takes generally five mintues to shift and clothing/items are not included. So someone thinking her ten who tried to pick her up would be surprized how heavy she was, while someone who tried to pick her up at middle age would be surprized at how light with her middle age pudge.

Flaw: Mary can't remember her past. She has no idea where she is from, how she got where she is, how she came in contact with the blood. The name she wears is one given her when placed in foster care after being found "wandering" as a ten year old in the streets.

Since then she's been supporting herself in a few odd ways...Under one name she is 70 and collects soical security, under another she rents a small efficency to keep her personal items (she is an artist and poet, but can't show it at the foster care), and as a Mary she lives at a very nice foster care. In another city she was doing the same thing, but fell in love with another foster child (a teenager) and approached him as a teen also. He seemed to fall for her also, but when he discovered her secret began to think of ways to use her skill to get money such as robbing banks under her middle aged persona. The more she resisted the more violent he became against her until the point she killed him, put in a change of address for her middle aged self and moved to another city where she was found, as her child self, wandering the streets and put into foster care.

She stills badly about him, and longs in her heart of hearts for someone to call her own who will accept her as she is.

Character play can be on many levels: Depending on what face she meets people in the story she can be childlike, mature, teenagerish, or a Granny type. She's very good at working the system and getting information since she can interview people while in different personas (and generally people don't tell a teenager what they would tell a peer, or a older person).

She cannot die via ageing, since she has complete control over that, and she is highly disease/posion resistant due to the fact that her state of flux burns out toxons, viruses, and mutant cells (such as cancer).

Brain studies show that as children our brains are like jelly, which is why we can’t shake them. When shaken too hard the jelly sloshes around and the nurel pathways become broken. As we get older our brain hardens to the consistancy of jello. It wiggles, but doesn’t shift. So the connections and pathways don’t become broken. In humans the brain becomes fully “set” at about age 17. A part of Mary’s problem is her flux between ages softens
and hardens her brain. The longer she stays in her adult form the more she will remember, but it will begin to get scrambled again as she fluxes down to younger ages. Which, when she was running her foster care scam she did
very often. The pain is the nurel pathways trying to reconnect.

Old Storyline:

Mary had some adventures that lead her to Kell (JC) but in the general destruction she lost track of the young man. She's stopped switching identity hoping he'll find her, moved to Argopolis, and opened a cafe called Kell's hoping he'll find her.

And, just as a side note because it's still funny from 5/2006:

Kell and Mary sitting in a tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
Frist comes love,
Then comes marriage
Then comes a hidously-deformed-and monsterusly-warped-with-mental-powers-beyond-the-kin-of-mortal-men-moster
In a baby carriage!

Faith Honai
Race: Born in Locrir, Mother Revan
Occupation: Journalism
Age: 22 (now)
Height: 5 8
Weight 130

Coloring: Untamable black curly hair and green eyes, very slender and fit due to kickboxing classes. (A suggestion by one of her professors who said "A young pretty investagative reporter better be able to take care of herself.")

Faith is 'only' human, but she doesn't let that stop her from fightig the good fight for truth, justice, and the freedom of her people. She was a student, but she has become a GREAT reporter.

Faith has a few skills that make her job easier such as some lock picking skills, photography, speaks the common langs of the Phrygia and ASL (or equivlant) as one of her 5 siblings is deaf.

Faith is from Locrir and has a large upper middle class family who aren't entirely behind her career choice. But from the time she was very young she's wanted to know why things happen, the hidden forces that move the world, and tell others about them. Her mother is Revan, and came as a student teacher and married a local man, who is a composer of some international fame. They have five children, with Faith being the third oldest (22). I would assume that since the dictatorship is recent her family would be under observation...One parent a forgein nataional and a teacher and one of the offspring out of the country on a student visa to be a reporter...esp when Faith begins her articles.

Old storyline: Faith discovered that the creature known as Monolith was her older sisters former fiance, a shock to both of them. She was more or less being stalked by a contract killer as a side project of his, but that never developed.

New storyline: Faith has moved on in many ways, she and Price broke up and she's a major player after her award winning story on the prophet of the Cuckoo gang. She's become even more active in freeing Loquir from Savanti Romero's regime and writes mostly politcal stories although she also works for the rights of Loa affected. Currently living in Argopolis she again has rented a small house since she found Prices so comfy.

Welcome to beatiful Locrir, where the music is always playing. For many centuries the native people of Locrir have heard the rythem of the nateral world and brought it out in joyous harmoney with singing, dancing, and fabouous works of art. While it is true there has been some political strife, the new Socialist Empire has laid much of this to rest by taking control of the national banking, health care, mass media, and scientific reasearch to give the people a stablity never known before. Always a happy beatiful people the native Locriran's enjoy many benefits includeing free schooling for their children, allotted houseing so no one will be homeless, and other benefits to numerous to mention. Visit the old temples of the Tai-Pal monks, who still worship on lands they've held for tens of centuries, visit our many galleries, cultural museums or native symphanies, or join a street carnival and dance til dawn! There has never been a better time to visit Locrir!~

With the seizure of many of the primary industries of Locrir the so called Emperor remains in power by a system of rewards and punishments which is astounding in it's stublety. The head of nearly every major inporter or exporter company in the country was on Romano's revolunary staff, or funded his rise to power in one way or another. Children are taught a revisionist history and are growing up to believe that the only safe Locrir is one in which their nations leader guides it as a father figure. Many outspoken figures have disappeared, as well as their families, and papers proving they have left the country under no duress given to questioners. However, they still can't be found, regaurdless of the exit visa stamped in their name. If they left the country safely, why are they hiding from those wishing to aid them? Many popular figures who remain in Locrir are closely watched for outspoken behavior against the regieme, and a score of privite colleges and lower schools have been created with scholerships the children of the disstants are not allowed to turn down. Most disturbing is that the scientists most closely involved with Loa Blood research are under house arrest at the known testing facility along with their families. All known Gifted are required to be registered with the state, and many have been pressed into the Empire Army.

Monolith Bio

(Will finish this tomorrow. I am frikin beat right now)

Name: Dramon Knight/Monolith
Race: Locrir
Height and Weight: 15' tall, roughly 4,000 lbs.

Description: Fifteen feet tall with rough skin that looks to be chisled from raw gold flecked obsidisan. He has muted human features, eyes that glow golden like molten lava and his genital area is smooth like a Ken doll. His hands have only three fingers and a thumb, and only four toes on each foot. When he speaks he has a incredibly deep voice that seems to rumble through the air.

Powers:Monolith has incredible strength. It has never been measured, but scientists estimate that he could easily lift several tons, possibly over ten. Monolith is also impervious to most physical damage and elemental damage. Cold can hurt him over prolonged time, and he is especially vunerable to sonic attacks.
Monolith has basically suspended all his bilogical functions. He does not eat, breathe, sleep or excrete bodily waste. No known germs or biological agents, including Loa Blood can affect him (Loa changed him into a silicon based life form).

He can also leap across vast distances (like The Hulk), and has recently discovered that he can basically let go of his physical form and move through the earth, materializing miles away from where he was (though he does not have very good control over this).

He can also cause earthquakes, but he has no councious control over this power.

History.

Nia

IC: It was late, I was tired, and I had just been informed my daughter was kidnapped. I needed a drink and a stiff one. Immediately in front of me was a place called Kell's, it didn't look like it had stiff drinks but a cup of coffee would do nicely for now.

I stepped inside the door and did my best to ward off the nights cold. The chill seemed to cling to me and the gloom fallow smoothly into the room. The trouble wasn't the night air outside the building, it was coming from the inside, and unless I quelled my mind it may not go away.
