Little Red Box (closed now)

Wanting to start a holiday thread, hoping it will last much longer then that. The basic plot is as follows. A young girl, Sadie, is given gifts by a secret santa. She has no idea the gifts are from her brothers friend, Viktor Ryan. The gifts come every year, Sadie smiles as she opens each red box, knowing they are from her Santa. This will be their story of finding each other. If your interested read further, if not thanks any way.

Whomever takes on Viktor must know I'm wanting someone who can write and help to create a character. Not a two second quickie, although those are nice I want a little more this go around. ;)

Found Viktor thanks
*****************************************

Sadie Jenkins had always loved the holidays. Since she was younger, around eighteen, she started receiving gifts from a secret santa. She never had any idea as to who sent them. They always knew exactly what she liked. A necklace one year, a beautiful ring the next. All the gifts were special, having a particular meaning to them.

She smiled as she wondered who he was. Sure now that it was a he, the gifts always seemed to have a male touch. Now 24 she'd received a few over the years. Always in a red box. Always a few days before christmas. Sadie longed though to know the person behind such special things. Was it someone she already knew?

Sadie was dressing for work when the phone rang. A voice on the other end she hadn't heard from in years. She had read about his dealing, business activities. Also seen him on the arms of various women, but it was always a pleasure to talk to him.

"Viktor, how are you? I haven't heard from you in so long. I hope all is well," Sadie said rambling into the receiver.

She always got flustered around him. He was a few years older then her, five if she remembered correctly. Sadie had always secretly carried a torch for her brothers friend. Viktor ad been part of the family for so long. Then around her 18th birthday he seemed to disappear. She would talk to him once in awhile on the phone but that was it. She smiled waiting to hear his voice fill the line.

Viktor

Viktor usually loved the holidays as well. He loved seeing the people he cared about, sitting around, stuffing himself with turkey and other food, not a care in the world. Lately though he hadn't enjoyed the holidays. His work kept him so busy throughout the holidays that he barely had any time to get out to see anyone he cared about anymore. It was the reason he was taking a long break from work. He'd saved up enough money, especially after the merger he brokered, to be able to take it easy for a while. He'd still be working, but in a much more comfortable environment. He was going home. He’d blown out of there after he turned eighteen, thinking he’d find happiness on the outside, but the more money he got, the more women he had, the more he realized everything he’d wanted was back at home.

He picked up his phone, punching in a number he hadn’t dialed in quite some time. He smiled as Sadie picked up, the sound of her melodic voice always brought a smile to his face. He had been friends with her brother up until he left town, but it wasn’t him that Viktor stayed in contact with. “Hey Sadie. It’s been a long time, I know, but things have been hectic. You heard about my mother I assume?” That brought a welling of sadness into his heart. His mother had passed away just a few weeks ago. It was that event which had inspired him to seek out his happiness in the place he had so many good memories. “I just wanted to call… well I wanted to talk, and to let you know that I’m going to be moving back to the neighborhood… I think it’s what my mom really would have wanted.” He said, pausing to let her digest his words.

Sadie listened to Viktors voice. She had known about his mother. She and Sadie had always kept intouch. Matter of fact that was how Sadie had learned what Viktor had been up to these past years. When he had been to busy to call, his mother had filled her in.

"I did hear about her, Viktor. Not sure if she told you but we had been talking with one another for several years. She was a wonderful woman. I'm going to miss her."

Moving back, Viktor was planning to move back. Her heart flipped at the thought he would be so close. She even shook her head, knowing he couldn't see her reaction. Sadie had only a crush on the guy since she was like sixteen. Every time she spoke to him, which was usual once a month, although lately that had changed, she felt like that teenage girl. Now he would be moving back, she knew a blush was crawling up her face.

"Viktor, wow. Sorry its just not something I expected. I'm sure you are right, it's what your mom would have wanted. She always told me how she wished you would have stayed closer to home. Your mother missed you Viktor. We all have," Sadie couldn't help but add.

She did miss Viktor. Something had happened around her 18th birday. Her brother, Lucas and Viktor had gotten into a fight. Next thing she had known was that he was leaving. Going off to become what it seemed like he wanted. Here Sadie had thought maybe then that she was now of age, they could date. Guess she was wrong, he was only kind to her because he was friends of her brother. Perhaps Viktor never had never ment things he had said when they were younger, he was probably only being nice.

"Vik, where will you live? Don't you have a huge business to run? I mean I've read all about you, how will that work out?" Sadie rambled on before realising it.

Viktor nodded to himself as Sadie talked. He had known that her and his mother were in close contact. Every time he had talked to his mother in recent years she had scolded him for not having kept in better contact with Sadie, even hinting that perhaps he should go come back to town and see what type of woman she had grown into. Viktor had chuckled it off, though he had often found his mind drifting back to those carefree summers that Lucas and Viktor had shared, Sadie often tagging along with them, despite her older brother’s protest. Viktor had never really minded, he liked having Sadie along with them. He sighed, remembering his falling out with Lucas, luckily he no longer lived in their hometown so Viktor wouldn’t have to deal with that when he came back.

He listened to her silence on the other end as he dropped the bombshell about moving back, wondering what was going through her mind. Finally she spoke again and he smiled, glad to hear that she agreed with his decision. His mother would have wanted it, but not for the reason she suspected Viktor thought. She had always hoped Viktor would find a way to get over the unfortunate incident with Lucas, but Viktor had ran. He wouldn’t anymore though. “I’ll still be doing a lot of work out of home, but I’m handing off the main workload to my partner for a while. He’ll be handling most of the day-to-day operations. I just need a hiatus. I’ve been working myself too hard lately. Not sleeping enough, all that. As for where I will be living, well it was part of the reason I wanted to call. I have a couple of agents looking for housing there, but they don’t know the area as well as you do Sadie, I was hoping I could talk you into helping me find a place?” He said hopefully.

He wanted her help, to find a place to live. Sadie couldn't believe it. Inside she smiled, beamed actually. Her heart overcome with emotion at the mere idea he needed her help. Well not need per say but he asked and that was a great feeling.

"I see Vik. When were you planning on getting into town? Did you need the place before you got here?"

So many questions running through her head right now. What it would be like to have him live so close. Probably wouldn't matter. Since Vik and her brother were not talking Sadie would almost never see him. Unless he wanted someone to show him the town, how it had changed.

"I'm sorry to ask so many questions Viktor. I'm just happy for you. I always thought you needed a break. Your mom always wanted you to slow down. You have been away for far too long. So much has changed Vik."

Sadie was sure her would hear the sadness in her voice. Things had changed for her. Life was different. Her parents had both passed in a car accident leaving her alone since Lucas moved to be with his family. She understood that, it was still hard.

Sadie worked for a local ad agency. She was the gal who came up with catchy slogans and pictures for products. She loved her work, wouldn't change it. She wasn't the sweet and innocent girl she had been.

Viktor chuckled slightly as she fired all her questions at him. “It’s ok Sadie, the more I can tell you the better you can help me. And no I won’t need the place before I get in, I’m going to be staying at the Hilton until I can find a place, and I get in tomorrow morning around 9ish.” He smiled at that, knowing she’d be surprised that he was getting in so soon. “I meant to call you sooner and let you know but I’ve had so many last minute details to attend to so I can get out of here that I just lost track of time.”

He heard the sadness in her voice as she spoke. He had heard what had happened to her parents, had even used it as an excuse to try to reach out to Lucas again, but he had pushed him away. He had changed too much since that last summer. Viktor sighed as he thought about it. With his mother’s passing Sadie was now his only link to that past, a past he was now desperately trying to reclaim. He wanted to come clean with Sadie, but knew that he couldn’t yet. There was too much he had to make right first. He realized he hadn’t said anything in several moments and shook his head slightly. “In any case I’m not looking for anything too opulent, a couple of bedrooms, maybe a garage, a nice yard would be nice. I don’t know, I just figured it would help to get someone who really knows the area looking for me.” He said with a slight laugh.

"Tomorrow, really that soon. When you want something Vik you don't waste the time do you? I'd love to help, I even think I know a place that may work. The condo across from mine I believe is empty. As long as you wouldn't mind being so close to me I think you could have it."

Having Viktor live so close filled her with a certain sadness. Sadie didn't know where she fit into his plan. If he would even want anything more then mere freindship. She needed to stop, already jumping too far ahead. He was just moving back intown, give it a break she thought.

"Viktor do you need a ride from the airport? I would be more then happy to pick you up."

She hadn't seen him in well years. His sly smile, dark mysterious eyes. Everything about Viktor made Sadie feel like a teen again. Her school crush wanting to rear its head. Sadie just shook hers, glad that the phone was between them. She didn't want him seeing her blush so much.

"You know me. I've always been incorrigible. When I make a decision it tends to follow me around until I actually act on it. Don’t like to linger too long.” He said a slight frown coming to his face as he remembered how those decisions had caused him to leave town all those years ago. That was a different time though, and the past was just that. “A house back in the old neighborhood eh? What’s the address?” He jotted it down. “I’ll have one of the agents looking for me go around and check it for me.” He liked the idea of being near her again, not that he’d admit it out loud.

Viktor knew he hadn’t been exactly honest with Sadie when he ran off all those years ago, but the rift between him and Lucas had changed everything. Now though he wanted to go back. He wondered if there was any chance with Sadie still. He remembered her hair, and wondered if she still kept it as long as she had when she was eighteen. He smiled slightly as he pictured her back then, a beautiful girl when then. He brought himself back to reality. “Well I was just going to have a cab pick me up, but it would be great to see a friendly face after seven hours of flying… I get in around seven in the evening, would that work alright for you?”

Sadie smiled, Viktor had always been concered with wether or not she'd be okay. She often wished this had been different, that he hadn't left. Maybe they would have found each other. Sometimes at night she would catch herself dreaming about that.

"No Vik that wouldn't be a problem. Besides its you, and this being your first trip home in such a long, need a friendly face. Why don't you give me you flight information? Don't wanna be late getting you."

She knew she could listen to the mans voice forever. It did so many things to her. Soothed her, made her weak in the knees. All at the same time. Its no wonder she still felt like a teenager when she talked to him. She managed to remember he was talking, flight information. She wrote everything down.

"I still can't believe you moving back Vik. We'll have to go to dinner sometime. Celebrate you homecoming. Don't worry nothing bug. I remember from when I was younger how you hated big parties. Would just be you and I, what do you think?"

“Yeah, even though I’m sitting here planning the trip it’s still hard for even me to believe that I’m coming home. I never thought I’d have a reason to come back, especially with work taking so much of my time. In any case, I’d love to do dinner sometime, I hope we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other..” He let his words hang there, deciding not to say too much at this time. “Well, I need to get back to finishing everything up. I’ll see you tomorrow Sadie.” He smiled as he hung up the phone, leaning back to close his eyes, visions of a long brown haired beauty flooding his mind.

The rest of the day passed with little incident. He took care of all the important stuff he needed to before he could leave, checking to make sure all the books were in order, stopping by each of his managers offices to have chats with them and make sure they were all clear on the situation. Having a partner like Don Parker made the whole thing a lot easier and the two went out for an afternoon drink to talk about the future, Viktor walking away knowing the company would be capably run. It wasn’t as if he were disappearing into the Congo either, Viktor would still have quite the workload even at home. But there was a huge difference between being a few blocks away from the office and being across the country, so it still put his mind at ease to know his business would be taken care of by a group of true professionals.

He boarded his plane the following morning, smiling to the flight attendant as she showed him to his seat. The first class accommodations were wonderful and Viktor quickly found himself falling asleep in the oversized chair as the plane made the cross country flight, a feat that was usually hard for him to accomplish. A sense of peace and calm had settled over him, completely at odds with the feelings of nervousness that played in his head at seeing Sadie again.

He awoke with a start as the plane touched down, stretching as he looked out at the familiar yet foreign site of his hometown. He swallowed heavily as he collected his carry-on and laptop bag, standing and stretching the tiredness away before moving to the front of the plane with the other passengers and walking down the gangway. His eyes lit up as he exited the terminal, searching for Sadie in the crowd of holiday travelers.

"No problem, I understand. I'll see you tommorow Viktor," Sadie said before she hung up. The whole call this morning still amazing. He would be here, the man she always had judged others by.

Was probably the reason she was still single. No one was could ever be him. That was what Sadie wanted. She knew that now. Just like when they were younger, her brother had said what she felt was nothing more then a crush. Lucas had often laughed at the fact she was infatuated with his best friend. Typical schoolgirl fashion was all he had ever thought.

Sadie finished dressing and headed out the door to her job. She drove the fifteen minutes to her office. Told her secretary she would be leaving early and to change her appointments accordingly. She also called the man selling the place across from hers letting him know she may have someone to buy it. The day flying into afternoon and before Sadie knew it it she was heading back home.

She did her normal cleaning and made dinner. Eating she wondered about Viktor and what tomorrow and the future would bring. She wanted nothing more then for him to find his happiness. Whatever in life that would make him smile. Sadie wanted that for Viktor.

The next things went as normal,. She left work, changed into jeans and a t-shirt before heading to meet Viktor. She couldn't believe she was nervous. Arriving at the airport she walked to his terminal. Looking around she spotted him and smiled. She waved her hands hoping to get his attention.

Viktor frowned slightly as his eyes swept over the crowd, searching for some sign of Sadie. Had she forgotten about him? That didn’t seem very likely, maybe she was just running late. His eyes stopped as he saw a hand off to his left waving frantically. He turned his gaze over that way and smiled at what he saw. She looked beautiful. Her hair was still long, just as he’d remembered, and it looked as if she’d somehow grown even more sexy. Calm down Vik, she’s still your old friends kid sister. Even if you don’t talk to the guy anymore there’s no proof that she’s still interested in you. He had to tell himself all this as he rushed over to her, drawing her in for a big hug. “Wow, you look great! It’s wonderful to see you! So where’d you park? I need to go get my bags from baggage claim…” He shook his head realizing he was stammering like a moron. He blushed slightly as he looked at her.

Viktor Sanson, the child prodigy of Comstars Enterprise, named Wall Street’s newest rising star found himself again feeling like an awkward fifteen year old as he hefted his carry-on bag and walked with Sadie down to the baggage claim area. He tried to think of things to small talk about, but ended up just watching her out of the corner of his eyes as they walked, wondering if she still felt the same way about him she had all those years ago.

Sadie almost ran to Viktor. She was so excited to see him. It really had been to long. The moment his arms wraped around her she knew she didn't want to let go.

"Thanks Vik. You look good too. I'm just off the terminal. Relax a little. I'm sure your nervous about being back. I understand that but once you settle in I'm sure things will be fine."

We headed towards baggage, a silence between us. Either we were both nervous or neither knew what to say. Sadie would look at Viktor every so often but nothing more as the made their way through a sea of people. Once they were there they both looked at each other, Sadie letting out a laugh.

"Geeze Vik you would think we didn't know each other. Its like its a first date," she said with a smile trying to make light of the little tension that filled the air.

"How was your flight? Get any sleep at all?"

Viktor chuckled. “I’m sorry I guess I’m just a little off my game right now. Jet lagged and what not.” He said, it sounded a weak excuse in his ears, but he couldn’t very well come out and tell her that he felt awkward being around a girl he had felt so strongly for and then was forced to run away from. He sighed slightly. “Yeah I slept a little on the flight but like always it wasn’t very relaxing sleep. You know me, I’ve always had a lot of trouble sleeping anywhere but in a bed.” He said with a smile. “In any case, how are you doing? I hope this isn’t inconvenient coming to pick me up. I know you’ve got a lot on your plate too. I especially liked your new jingle for the Hostess twinkie.” He said with a laugh as he nudged her, letting her know he was just having some fun with her.

They waited by the carousal, he made small talk, feeling a bit more at ease now than he had a moment before. “So yeah it was really my mom’s death that got me thinking about the types of things that were really important in life, and so I decided to come back for a while… find something that could really make me happy.” He let his eyes linger a moment on Sadie as he said that before stepping away to grab his luggage off the carousal returning a moment later. “Alright, that’s all I have. Lead on.” He said with a wide grin.

It wasn't long before they were both back in the swing of things. Talking and chatting away, catching up on old times. Sadie missed this, she always had felt this connection to him. Once he left she had never found it with another.

"I'm doing good. Yeah that twinkie jingle came after spending the night stairing at that damn thing. I was glad I finally came up with something they liked."

Sadie pushed his hand away. Again playing like they had never missed a beat. Falling back into their old teasing habbits. She couldn't help but smile up at him as he talked about his life.

"I'm glad you came home Viktor. It will be good for you to feel grounded again. Get away from all that bright lights and big city stuff I've read about. That includes your big city starlet girlfriend I saw in the paper."

She laughed wanting to make light of a serious under lying question. Sadie wanted to get to know him again. To hang out, share some dinner. Walk in the park. Things people did with each other. If he was keeping his girlfriend she wouldn't though, didn't want to set herself up to fall yet again.

"Follow me Viky boy. I'll take you to your hotel," she said calling him a cute teenage nickname she had used so many times before.

Viktor laughed as she pushed his hand away and moved close to her, letting his arm drape across her shoulder in a friendly way as they walked. He’d missed her a lot the past few years. He considered revealing his secret to her but quickly decided against that. He needed time, time to get to know her again. They’d talked a few times over the last few years but he still felt like she was a stranger to him in many ways.

“Yeah I’m looking forward to taking it easy for a while. At least easier than I have been. I’m still going to have a lot of work to do while I’m here, but at least it won’t be all the time like it was before.” He chuckled at her mention of his starlet girlfriend. “Heh, the papers sort of exaggerated that relationship. We went out to dinner a couple of times, went to a few parties, but it’s not as major as everyone was making it seem.” Hell the tabloids had started talking about wedding bells. “We pretty much broke everything off when I told her that I was coming home. Besides she was too much for me anyway.” He chuckled, unwilling to tell her the other reason he had broken things off with his girl. Sadie had always been on his mind and no other girl could live up to a memory.

He smiled at her her, looking deep into her eyes as she used the old nickname she always used for him. “It really is good to be home Sadie.”

Sadie could only smile back as they moved towards her car. It had been the first thing she had ever been able to get for herself. She loved her little BMW. It fit her perfectly, she had thought that the moment she sat in it.

Sadie thought about Viktors comments about the girlfriend. The tabloids did have a way with stretching things to suit their needs, selling more papers. She gave a small chuckle at his expense. Guess thats what happens when you get that rich and famous.

"Were you just wanting to go to the hotel and rest or did you want to stop for something to eat. Not sure if you ate any of the wonderful plane food," Sadie said with a you better not have touched that stuff look.

Viktor looked over the BMW with interest, autos had always been an interest of his, he had had a small fleet of vehicles before deciding that he was going to move back. He still kept a private garage for his favorites. He circled the car nodding in respect to Sadie with a smile on his face. “The new 5 series is very nice looking. Gorgeous car for a gorgeous lady.” He winked at her as he climbed in, moving the seat back to give himself as much leg room as possible, even on first class flights he had always felt cramped.

He chuckled at Sadie’s comment about the food on the plane. “Well I was first class so the food wasn’t that bad, but I slept most of the way so I haven’t had a lot to eat.” He thought about it for a moment before his face brightened. “Hey! Let’s go to Nipp Burger! I’ve been stuck eating all sorts of fancy meals for what seems forever now… I could go for a greasy burger and some fries. Maybe we could even share a malt a la 50s style.” He said with another wink, laughing when she blushed slightly.

Sadie was proud of her car. She smiled, maybe even blushed a little as Vik's comments fell on her ears. Her car was one her most prized things. Strange she had never been one to be materialistic but her car was her baby. had probably to do with it being the first thing she bought.

Shaking her head she opened the trunk and they put in his luggage. Silence falling on them as they walked to their doors and sat down for the drive. Sadie couldn't belive she was enven the slightest nervous.

Her thoughts broke by his unual burst of excitement. Nip Burger, she hadn't been there in so long. Putting her key in the ignition she felt that blush creeping up her neck at the mention of sharing a malt. Was he making her crazy on purpose?

"Haven't been there in so long. Sounds like a great idea. Give you a chance to look at the town before tomorrow. I think Mr. Williams still owns it. I read they wanted to turn into one of those fast food chains but he wouldn't have it. He was always like things his way," Sadie said as they made their way through the airport and toward town.

Time passing quickly as they drove. Sadie couldn't stop thinking about the man beside her. How they had spent countless summers together and now didn't know that much about each other. How could things have changed so much. Sadie often wondered what had happened to make Viktor leave. HSe had asked Lucas but he wouldn't say. Always told her she was too young and it was best.

Lucas had always been protective of her. Hell half the guys she had dated he had run off before they could kiss her goodnight. It was something she never understood. They pulled up at the dinner and Sadie couldn't help but smile as she looked over at Vik.

"Nice to be back, hu" she asked.

“Good, I’m glad they didn’t change it. The world hardly needs one more McDonalds or Taco Bell; Nipp Burger is a little piece of history. At least between us kids that grew up here.” He said with a laugh, thinking of all the weekends they had spent just shooting the shit in the place. He leaned back as she started the car listening to the soft purr of the engine as she pulled away, smiling as he watched her out of the corner of his eye. She was blushing from his earlier comment. He was glad to see that he was still able to put her off balance with simple comments.

“So how have things been? Give me all the scoop I’ve missed, What’s the same? What’s changed? Who’s sleeping with who?” He chuckled at that last one. “In any case, yeah it really is nice to be back. You really take for granted the type of peace you can have in a place like this when you’re here, but once you’ve been out in the hustle and bustle with no rest for what seems like forever, well the idea of coming back is wonderful.” He let his hand rest on hers on the gearshift for a split second. “It really is great to be back Sadie.”

Sadie felt Viktors touch, it warmed her hand. He left it there only briefly but it was enough for her. She felt his touch deeper then he would ever know. She smiled over at him, glad that he was happy to be back. She had missed talking with him. Of course there was more then that but thats all she was willing to admit to.

"Shall we?"

She opened her door and walked around the car. The dinner had never changed. Still had the nostalgic look of the 1950's to it. It had been in the Williams family for so long. Sadie was glad it was the one thing that stayed the same. Goining here always brought back great memories.

She could still see Lucas, Vik, Karla, and her hanging out in the back booth. Sipping a cool shake, trying to stay at of the hot summers. They had always spent so much time here. Perhaps that why she stopped coming here so much, too many memories.

"Back, booth like ol times, Viktor?"

They moved and sat. She smiled at him as they sat across from each other. A waitress came over and they ordered the usual. Burger, fries, and malts. Sadie saw Vik looking the place over. Reminding him of their summers spent here she was sure.

"So, wanna here the dirt of the town hu. Lets see, most things changed. Bigger companies have moved in, so a lot of little places had to close. Couldn't compete you know. Some people wanted to put some huge parking thing over the town courtyard but that didn't happen. The town rallied and its been preserved. Going to be decorating the big tree tomorrow. If you want to help, your welcome to. As far as anyone sleeping around. Don't know, haven't heard to much there Viktor. Could be my own lack luster love life is the cause," Sadie smiled at him.

Viktor felt the lingering softness of her skin on his palm as he exited the car, smiling at her as he stretched his muscled torso. He’d spent too much of the day sitting about and just needed a minute to get all his kinks out. He ran his hands through his dark hair as he looked around the parking lot of Nipps, smiling as memories came flooding back to his brain. He chuckled as he remembered how many days they had wasted at this place. It had always been one of the more popular places for the teenage crowd and they had spent countless hours here, sitting in the back or hanging out in the parking lot. It did his heart well to see the place still standing and looking nearly the same it had all those years ago.

Viktor nodded his affirmation to her suggestion of the back booth, following her back and ordering his old favorite when the waitress came by. He looked around eagerly for Mr. Williams but didn’t see him. Oh well he’d have time to catch up with him later. He sat back and listened to Sadie talk about how the town had changed. It was a little sad to hear about all the small businesses going under and Viktor felt a flash of guilt, knowing he was one of those big companies that was working to bankrupt small town economies. He shifted uncomfortably then shrugged his guilt away as the waitress returned with their orders. “Sure decorating the tree, that could be fun.” He said with a slight smile as he took a bite of his burger. “Lack luster love life?” He chuckled at that. “The Sadie I remember had to fight the guys off with a stick!” He laughed loudly at that, blushing slightly when people turned to look at them. He hurriedly took a long sip of his malt, eyes fixed on the table.

The food came and they began eating, chatting as though they had never missed a beat. Sadie enjoyed the moment, loved being near him. SHe always had. Now he was home and things would be a little more interesting.

"Yeah thanks." Sadie kicked him under the table, "my love life has become either null or void. Take your pick. Besides we can't all have the kind of rich tycoons can we."

She let out a small laugh, letting Viktor know she was only joking. Not wanting to be cruel or hurt him. She took a sip of her drink as she watched him keep his eyes to the table.

"No my love life stopped awhile ago. After the last guy I found cheating on me, I decided on a break. This town just doesn't have anyone for me I guess," she looked down at her plate, sadness in her voice.

Her hand went to her necklace. One she had received last year from her secret santa. Too bad she didn't know who it was. Maybe he was who she was waiting for. She may never know. Only time would tell.

Viktor laughed again, though less loudly, as she kicked him under the table, shooting her a look of mock pain. “Owwww!” He whined with a smile on his face and then stuck his tongue out at her as she made fun of him. “Don’t be insulting me just because I’ve got all this…” He smiled teasingly as he gestured at himself. His smile turned into a frown as she told him about her men troubles. “Cheated on? That’s horrible. The guy must have been a real idiot if he thought he found something better than you. Besides I’m sure you can find someone for yourself, after all there’s a lot of fish in the sea” He winked at her, trying to make her feel better. He had always wanted to be the guy for her, but he wasn’t ready to just jump back on the boat like nothing had ever happened He saw her hand go to her necklace and he did his best to hide a small smile by taking a bite off his burger.

He ate for a few minutes in silence as he tried to think of something to say, feeling a little awkward after having forced her to revisit memory lane with her bad relationships. He shook his head, sighing slightly. “Sorry, I’m doing my best not to be awkward here, but everything just seems so weird to me right now, I mean a couple months ago I would have said that I’d never expect to be back here, and now here I am.. I mean, things are moving pretty quick for me still. Tell ya what, how about we go by my hotel so I can check in and then you can show me around town, I mean if you’re up to it that is.” He said with his best smile.

Sadie mind filles with memories of the guy. She had thought they were in love, trusted him with her heart. Then caught him in her bed with some girl. It had been a horrible time for her. A week before christmas, she had been torn apart. Then she got a box.
