I was browsing my CD collection to find some CD's to bring to work to make the day more tolerable; and I came across a couple of very old CD's by bands that I've always loved. I put the CD in at work and it was like coming home!

What are the bands (or solo artists) that you LOVE to love?

You know the kind. The may have a few CD's out, but no one knows who they are (except you..seemingly) Perhaps they only put out one CD before the group disbanded or their label dropped them. The music is usually not very polished, still very raw, the vocals may not even be all that fantastic but there is just something very REAL about them. It's just a great damn CD/tape/album/8-track (if you're REALLY old).

I have three off the top of my head:

Dryve
Fungo Mungo
Cake

ALL my stuff is old but:

Blind Faith
West, Bruce and Lainge
Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes (as opposed to a previous incarnation which had them as the Asbury Dukes)

Oooh, Blind Faith!! Excellent!!

I LOVE Primus, but I don't think they ever got the respect they deserved.

I also have cousins in a band called Fishbone. I may be biased but I thought they were brilliant! But the younger generations don't know them anymore. In fact, we were just talking about that a couple of weeks ago.

I knew a girl she was almost a lady
She had a way with all men in her life
every inch of her blossom and beauty
she was born on the 4th of July

He could write a metaphor eh?

a band called "Lennon" fronted by a girl named lennon murphy. Love her first album, its really all I've hears so far. There was some beef with the way the label handled her or something and she doesnt' get much press.

Dreams So Real. Out of Athens, Georgia. 80 and early 90s. Rough Night in Jericho is a great album. (And song)

Yeppers tha's th band:D........... My hubby an his Bro introduced me ta them.... Last Chance jus hit a chord wit me.............

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes - what fun they were. We had them at our college for a bunch of concerts.

Another we had was (Jon) Pousette Dart Band. He's great, if you can find a listen go for it. Especially if you like folky-light-lyric music.

A local band that had some success but didn't like the way the recording exec wanted to market them (going sexual with the lead singer, the only female). They were Private Lightning. Excellent everything.

Super Furry Animals - Welsh smokers. Makes me smile when not a lot else does.

Ultrasound - Insane progers, sadly no more.

The Delgados - Scottish. Beautiful. Split.

Arab Strap - Stories of tawdry alcohol fuel sex accompanied by the most wonderfully delicate music.

Lucky Pierre - Defies my descriptive powers this morning.

Snow Patrol - Loud, quiet ... Music I'd shag on a first date.

Kruder & Dorfmeister - DJ's with huge talents. Huge!

Etienne De Crecy - Relax....

Rob Dougan - Voice. Talent. Vision.

Revere - Make me swear, they are that good.

So many more ..... *sigh*
