Just a curious thought here this morning. What is the Lit societal norm for answering a random PM that floats to your inbox? Removing all the asshat ones, the cock shots, the overtly sexual, and the copy and pastes, if someone reaches out to you, are you obligated to respond. I realize that if there has been some board exchanges that ups the obligation, if you already know a person that raises it to a must. But for someone you don't know..... And as a sender of said random PM, what is your expectation on a reply? To me, if I don't know a person at all but for some reason would be compelled to PM them, while a reply would be nice, there's no ill will if one doesn't come my way.

I am not one to send random PM's but certainly would not expect a reply if someone doesn't know me.

I don't expect anyone to reply to my PM out of obligation. I do expect them to reply because I am so delightful and I've got charm oozing out of every orifice. To all who have received a PM from me, you know what I'm talking about!

But seriously, if I send a nice, friendly message to someone, I sort of expect it to be returned. Not out of obligation, just out of past history. I can think of very few times I've ever messaged someone and not gotten back a reply. I typically lead with a dick pic, so it's sort of hard for you ladies to withhold replying.

I've responded to every PM I've gotten that wasn't overly rude or crass.

Hell, I even return Papa Chained's PMs when he PMs me. It's usually a "Sorry, that's not my thing" reply, but I return them nevertheless.
 
It's true he has responded to everyone I've ever sent, I just don't like it when he responds with the self-fisting pics

I’ll usually respond to a PM if something intelligent was said or asked. Yes, I’ll look at their history and if he/she has been on for years and years and made 15 posts, good chance I’m not replying to your “so you have a Yahoo account so we can swap pics?” PM. Sorry dude.
I’ve sent out a few random ones, all which have been super nice and friendly. I’ve received a reply back from everyone I’ve sent out except one.
Do I expect a reply back, yes I kinda do. Maybe not that instant, but damn, a “thank you” isn’t that hard is it?! ;)

Nothing wrong with a little butter every now and then but with the prevalence of greasy flying around these parts I'm not so sure it should be brought up here.

  • messages from Virgins who have posted under 20 times in 5 years
  • people with handles like Daddy4U6969 or PussyEater420
  • lists of physical descriptors like brown hair, tan, 200 lbs, 6'2" and cut, 9" fully erect
  • high pressure requests to chat, cam, or exchange pics--extra points for repititious persistence
  • pouting due to delayed response, or total lack thereof

...nothing's sexier than the pouting. It's my fave.

I usually respond to all pm's I get (Although it isn't many), even the times another guy has tried it on :D I've never been sent a dick pic and that isn't an invite to send one you perverts :p
If I was going to send a pm to a complete stranger then I wouldn't expect a reply.
