SweetSam would be willing to give up Christmas for mind-blowing sex. That's a very interesting concept. First, sex quality is highly subjective, mind-blowing for some may be pedestrian for others. Second is the barter element. Assuming we come to an agreement on what mind-blowing sex is, what would you be willing to trade for it?

Pedestrian. *snicker*

Who you callin' pedestrian, Chained?

Isn't everything in life a trade off? What would you be willing to give up to achieve anything? One gets up early in the morning to give up an hour or two of precious sleep, abandon their warm, cozy bed and brave the elements to BE healthy or raise their level of fitness. There's the trade off. Fitness and health for comfort or sleep. Restrain themselves from having another piece of chocolate cake, or reaching for another chocolate chip cookie for the sake of *being* healthy. It's what came to mind only because well, it's what I had to deal with yesterday. *grin*

Everything we achieve in life requires for us to give up something in return. It's the law of nature. One has to determine how badly we want it. As far as mind-blowing sex goes, what am I willing to give up for it? Time. I don't have much time for anything these days. Scheduling is a ruthless bitch. However, I'm more than willing to handcuff her to the bed, put a ball gag in her mouth and tell her to take it like the little girl that she is.

I'm willing to trade mind-blowing sex for mind-blowing sex. (It's the gift two or more people give to each other).

Non-sexual things are bartered for sex routinely are ordinary time (hours in a day), emotional time (building that connection), and sometimes good old fashioned cash - a nice vacation, a hotel room, simple gifts, dinner, etc..

I think its a rare quid pro quo arrangement (that's basically prostitution), but its often a subtle arrangement (so one person doesn't feel like a prostitute and the other doesn't feel like they're buying a prostitute and we all get to live in the shiny happy world where everyone is virtuous).

I'd stop talking for the entire time.. except for appropriate sex talk. Trust me, that's a big deal!

It's sneaking up on that time again. The dreaded New Year's Resolution. I'm a little bewildered at why this is such a big deal, then again I tend to be goal oriented. The "I never make any resolutions" group seems to be growing. I guess we'd rather wander aimlessly ahead and not improve ourselves? The make and break it group seems to be the largest group. At least they tried, or did they? And then there's the smallest, tiniest group, the make, sustain, & achieve group. I applaud all 10 of you ;)

So what group are you in, what will you resolve, what will you achieve in 2015?

I'm goal oriented myself. I make resolutions (usually three to five at a high level). They tend to be more process related that specific - i.e. "Spend more time hiking" or "Read at least two non-fiction books a month". I am pretty good at attaining them, though they do tend to get replaced or fall off as the year goes on and life evolves.

I'm a little surprised that people only make one resolution. I tend to have 15-20. I will say that I don't call them resolutions. They're more of a "focus list" so I can have some direction both professionally and personally (and spiritually)

New Years Resolution Season remind me of when I was rather new in the hospital and people were feverishly preparing for the Joint Commission Survery.. and I asked, "wouldn't it be easier to just do it the right way all the time so we could avoid this stress?"
You would have though that I'd grown a second head.

I don't make any. If there's something I need to change I do it throughout the year, not on a designated day.

I don't make any either....I do make daily lists tho of things I would like to accomplish that day...by the end of the week...the month...the year...I am not anal about them tho...if I mess up , that's ok..but I have always liked to have somewhat of a direction...a focus...on things I would like to get done , do, or not do...professional and personal...

I'm in the "never make them" group, as well.

Resolving to do anything better or different is something I consistently do throughout the year. My quest for self actualization is an ongoing process. Actually, it can even become rather relentless at times.

Maybe I should resolve not to resolve so much. Hey! There's an idea!

Agreed! Same here.

I am with Giggle on this one. During December things I want to focus on in the next year pop up in my head. Sometimes it are things I feel I have neglected a bit during the year, sometimes it are simply things I didn't find the time for during December, sometimes it are new things I want to try, sometimes it are things I started somewhere during the year I want to finish.

What would I trade??? Like others said...time....events....a hooky day of work ...for the right person....and the right kind of mind blowing sex....I'd make it happen....

I don't really make specific goals on this day but this year in general I've decided to put myself higher on the list of priorities. ...continue with my clean eating....and get my career back out of the stay at home mommy pit....

I kind of bleed over into a few categories. I'm all for continuous improvement, so I make small changes as I see the need for them. I do, however, try to focus on one large change, but I usually begin to gather that focus in February. I still call it a New Year's resolution, just... I am busy in January, and I try to support my friends in their resolutions. Once they get off the ground I quiet down, do some inner focusing, and make the kinds of changes and shifts I need to move my life forward. That usually carries me through May at least...

I don't do resolutions. I'm too much of a perfectionist and my life is far too unpredictable to be able to attain any sort of change intentionally. Instead, I strive to emulate the qualities that I need to live the quality of life I desire. Patience in the face of trying situations, courage to try things that scare me, determination to keep moving forward when things seem impossible. Those are the things that matter to me. Character, integrity, and grace are my life long goals, I don't need to write them down or pledge to them every year, I just live them out to the best of my ability every single day. That means some days I fail miserably, but it doesn't mean I stop trying because I feel like I've failed at a "goal". It also means there are days I celebrate little things like not completely losing my shit over something seemingly small by dancing naked in the shower and subsequently falling on my ass. These things happen. so I get back up and try again.

*pondering this New Year's Resolution group classification*

I've decided I don't fall in any of the categories.

First off, I don't make resolutions on New Years Eve or New Years Day.

I tend to evaluate, re-evaluate where I am and make adjustments accordingly. When that actually happens is inconsequential at least for me. What I look for is balance and whether or not I am where I'd like to be. It can be exhausting due to the fact that I find myself constantly figuring out IF it is enough, am I happy? Blah, blah, blah. What a damn vicious cycle.

As far as what I will achieve in 2015, same as always. World peace. Isn't that what we all strive for? *smirk*

I resolve to eliminate hashtags and their overuse. Fuck they annoy me.

#youmeanthese#elimination#overuse#????

lol....i have a fb relative who always loads her pics with about a dozen of these....

And separately. ..back to chain's question....i was walking today doing a bit of head clearing and I came to the simple. ...but apparently not simple for me...resolution....
for me to accept the realization that if I want change.....i must change things...so that's my resolution. ..be the change they say...

#bethechange

(Lol I couldn't resist)

Bahaha. #awesome

I don't make resolutions, But I do have goals. Of which are to rebuild my core muscles and recover completely from the accident, get my images displayed in a public venue, expand my photographic horizons, continue being the best person that I can :)

I do like the feeling of a fresh start that the new year brings. I don't plan to resolve to do anything but make 2015 more bearable than 2014 and 2013 were. I haven't determined how to do that yet, but it'll come to me.

I just #'d a post with 40% proof.
This is acceptable to me.

As to the OP, no resolutions.
Just to return to my lifestyle as per pre-Christmas.
And to keep working towards the thing(s) I want most.
No "new me" crap here. :)

When you figure out the how....will you let me in on the secret?!
