I find peace in the post-holiday season. A time to recoup from the frenetic round of family, friends, and entertaining that marks the end of the year. By the time January hits I am looking forward to the downtime.

That period of personal space is what lets me survive the rest of the year's more social aspect. So...the time itself is rejuvenating. No need for winter tricks, toys, or taboos.

I always have a few weeks off over christmas. I use the time after Christmas to winter purge. Catch up on sewing projects etc. I feel renewed and it gets me through January.

January isn't a problem for me - I am still on a high from Christmas and New Year's, I still have the Christmas tree up, making hearty stews, drinking tea in front of a fire and just enjoying the winter season.

It's February that drags and sucks ass.
