The god I believe in wants us to have orgasms and be happy. If (s)he didn't, why did (s)he create clits and penises and g-spots and prostates and dildos and magic bullet vibrators and anal beads and nipple clamps (not the toothy kind... those were created by satan)?

This.

And this:
We are humans and give in to sin. God already knows this about us. Doesn't make it right. We're all in our own unique circumstances. Faith is about believing. I disagree with some of the stances my church takes, but that doesn't mean I reject the whole thing. Faith and a higher power should reflect acceptance and love, not rules and going to some sort of hell in the after life.....in my opinion.

With Easter behind us let's move our thoughts to religion. (See what I did there) I'm not sure of the religious composition of the people at Lit, so for this conversation I'm going to assume half believe in a higher spirit. Maybe we have different names for it, maybe the beliefs aren't all identical but there is belief. That said, how is it possible that those of us with religious beliefs can come to an online sex site, with the vast majority engaging in sexual activities with someone other than our spouse, and still maintain our religious beliefs? Are we all destined for our appropriate "hell"? Are we huge hypocrites? Is it okay to ask for forgiveness and just keep coming back?

Non-religious type are encourage to reply, let's just keep the pure religion bashing to a minimum.

1. Because all humans are essentially horn-dogs.
2. Religious laws were constructed to keep it in our pants so the tribe/family wasn't weakened by our konking each other on the head when we boinked outside of our spouse.
3. Is online actively technically sex? (A variation on The Clinton Defense)
4. In the big scope of things, online sexual activity is pretty low on the list of Judeo-Christian sins, so, I doubt hell is in line.
5. Some folks are hypocrites.
6. No. Absolution is granted when you confess your sin, do your penance, and go forth and sin no more. (But, the Church understands you're human, so if you slip up again, you get to go through the whole process and do it again.)

I'm a single lapsed Catholic. Personally, I've done far worse things to worry about than have sex with consenting adults.

This question has continued to circle back into my mind all day. I don’t really subscribe to any organized religion. Once upon a time I identified rather loosely as a neo-pagan, but these days I’m rather “meh” on the subject as a whole. A higher power? Perhaps. Something more? I really…just…don’t know.

Still, I can relate, even if not directly though the religious portal. I’ve rather exchanged spiritual belief for…perhaps a personal code? Honesty, loyalty, good faith are integral to my personal relationships. Rather akin to religious strictures in some ways. Visiting Lit has never been a problem, but play required some pretty painful negotiation. While I place no particular value on monogamy, my SO does. If we hadn’t worked things out? I would either have not played, or ended the relationship. I absolutely, hands down, positively would not have played without my partner’s consent. So:

- For me, I guess that means I maintain my beliefs.
- Hell? I’ve seen some pretty hellish things here on earth. I guess I doubt the existence of a religious version.
- I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t hypocritical to some degree, though the extent certainly varies widely.
- Perhaps I don’t fully understand the religious ramifications but, "to ask forgiveness and just keep coming back," almost seem to infer there was never a genuine intention to stop. If so, probably not so good.

I love it when you talk dirty. ;)

Stirring the Lit pot. I noticed there was a thread start not too long ago with less than forthright intentions if not to outright troll. So then in the past few days a parody thread was created giving those that are so inclined a chance to further rip on the original thread.

So the topic here is why? Of all places, Lit threads waste away into oblivion of no one bothers to post. I'm looking for an explanation as to why people go after pages that appear to be trollish in nature rather than just ignore and know it will fade into obscurity. Why stir the pot, why add the drama?

As it seems likely that I'm the creator of the parody thread to which you're referring I might as well respond!

Firstly, it wasn't an attempt to stir the pot. I'm not a fan of drama on Lit, and usually step away from the fray when such things happen. On this occasion I posted on a whim. The original thread seemed to be a vehicle for trolling, where the poster jumped in every now and then to stir the pot. Or that was certainly my perception.

So the intent in my case was entirely light-hearted. I thought we could have some fun with it. I expected about a dozen responses before my thread fizzled away into obscurity. To my surprise that didn't happen, which (to me) was a pleasant surprise. The original thread is still going, and the pot is still being stirred - I don't claim to understand the motives behind that, and I bear the original poster no ill will, but, put simply, I find it risible, and (I think) so do a lot of other Litsters. :)

Thanks for sharing Hornblende. For me it's the whole concept of trolling I don't understand. I honestly wish we had a psychologist available to explain the thought process behind that behavior. I understand the laughing at the obsirsiry of it all because sometimes that's all one can do.

I think those threads are funny. Both of them. I enjoy good banter. But I was spending most of my time on the GB where those trolling bastards are everywhere. So maybe my sense of humour is fucked.

I have enjoyed the banter on them, as well. And it's at least a diversion from yet another "which litster would you kiss (fuck, eat dinner with, shove a dildo into, shake hands, hug, invite to your home)..." or "what color is your underwear (dog, first car, aura, bedspread, first pubic hair, etc.)..." threads.

And to be honest, it was interesting to see the people who bashed the OP for having a negative opinion of overweight people but had no problem bashing her with their own opinions. And when the OP came back with "Sup fatties", it really made me laugh out loud. As did the parody thread. AND it devolved into gay porn banter, which I .

It really has been some harmless fun and a nice change of pace, in my opinion.

So what I'm hearing from everyone is to relax and just go with the flow. Shakes out the uptightedness as best I can. Maybe a new question.

New topic: will the lister below me be more obnoxious than the lister above me.

Most likely. And here I thought I was being hilarious. Then again I do laugh at my own jokes.

<---- always looking for a reason to spread the porn love, esp gay and/or pegging. Any thread will do really. *shrugs* the two threads in question were as good as any since a well-known lit dick-tator doesn't want them in his thread. Such a kill-joy. :p
