I have looked but can't seem to find a set of rules or guideline for stories .

Also, I clicked expecting this to be a thread about how Literotica totally rules. :nana: :nana:

On the first page of the website is a link called submissions. I wonder what that's about? Click it you might find out wonderful things.

Ditto. I expected lavish praise for you and Manu, offers of submission, generous ass-kissing, etc. But it turns out to be a procedural. Sigh...

Given the modest amount of freedom a writer has here to post erotic stories, yeah Literotica does rule:)👠👠👠Kant

The rules are the rules, so that's the rule. Literotica does rule, but I can't post Mr. B on here, so that does not rule. Finishing a 22 page chapter filled to the brim with erotic exhibitionism, that does rule.

The Guidelines - along with the FAQ, Writer's Resources, and Volunteer Editors list - are linked on the SUBMIT page in everyone's member area:
https://www.literotica.com/members/submissions_submit.php

They are. With my browser set to full screen, the page cuts off right at "Helpful links:" and you have to scroll down to find out that there's a submission guide down there. Even that says "Guide", not "Read This If You Want A Story Accepted". In fact, the page's first sentence implies that anything you submit will be accepted - not at all what you want to say.

I'm lenient on newbies here (and it annoys me that people aren't) because the site itself doesn't make clear that there really are rules. Being a guy, I'm not fond of reading directions, and anything that smacks of "Help" or "Guidelines" is skipped until necessary. But something that says "Submission Rules" right near the top of the page? Now I feel like that's something that requires attention.

After

By clicking one of the links below you can submit your work to Literotica so that it read by the thousands of readers who stop by the site each and every day. Once you click the link that related to the material you want to submit, you will be taken to a page with easy instructions and web forms that will allow you to submit your work in one of several available formats.

please add:

Note that the site has rules concerning what material is acceptable. The full list of rules is found here. Please read them carefully before submitting!

"Here" should open a new tab, detailing all the rules in once place (right now I think they're scattered between two stickies in different forums?)

Even that, I think, isn't good enough. By the time anyone visits the submission page they've written their story and that's too late to learn about what you shouldn't have done. The top of the main page needs a "thinking of writing for Literotica's many readers? Click HERE!"

Yes - the Submission Guidelines are also above the fold on site index:
https://www.literotica.com/stories/index.php

as well as on the front page menu, under "Submit":
https://www.literotica.com/

I agree that helpful info could be more readily available than it is currently (and it will be, in the new version of the site). But the reality is that the vast vast majority of authors seem to be able to find the guidelines and the FAQ. If finding the submission info were a huge issue, then we'd be fielding daily complaints for years. That is not the case.

Yeah, the beauty of the Internet is (or should be) that there's a place for everyone to express themselves. We're completely supportive of other sites' right to set whatever guidelines they see fit - just as we're supportive of authors' right to write fiction about whatever they like. Just because we don't post, say, stories under 750 words long doesn't mean we hate flash fiction. We just feel it's not right for this site.

So, if Laurel is the ruler, does that make Manu the set square?

I'm no ruler. Maybe a protractor.

Our cat's the ruler. Just ask him. :D :D

I posted the first chapter on Lushstories.com, so yes there is a place for everyone. They're pretty particular about spelling and punctuation too. It might suck to get the story rejected because of that, but it makes the story better, I think.

I did too. That's when I noticed there's no ass-kissing Smilie. Lips, yes, but that's ambiguous at best.

The only rules I see there is no bestiality and that characters must be 18 or older the rest seems to be a submission guideline : roll eyes !

You specified "guidelines" yourself in the OP. There are links to the FACs all over the place, starting with the first highlighted (in blue) on the home page. There's the old adage that you can lead a horse to water, but . . .

As far as where the edges are on what's permitted, this is a creative fiction site, if you need to have a hard edge specified for every possible eventuality, you're probably too anal retentive to be writing creative fiction.

Gee, isn't the submission guide there on the page that the submission link takes you to? And actually, the two rules you mentioned are the two most asked about. So there you are. Then another click on the page explaining those two rules and you get the rest of the tour/rules. My god, it's filled with stars.
