Quite the exaggeration yankee. My parents lived in Minnesota for many years when they first retired. We also spent ever one of our summer vacations there while I was growing up. Minnesota is one of the most beautiful states in the union. It has serene and picturesque lakes, sprawling forests, some of the most gorgeous golf courses I've ever seen, and an abundance of wildlife living right beside their human counterparts. The cities are clean and organized, and the highways are in good repair.midwestyankee said:Can you spell "hot dish?" It is illegal in that state to cook anything that does not include cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup. Need I say more?

So, if the menu is all you are concerned about, then you are really missing something.

Actually, I think perspective was what was needed when you wanted to judge an entire state based on recipes......midwestyankee said:Nope, just trying to keep it in perspective.

I'm sure even Iowa has something to offer. I once dated a guy from Dubuque and that was quite an offering![]()

How did the speech tournament go??
aww..I just love those proud parent momentsmidwestyankee said:Thanks.
And thanks for asking about the tournament. My daughter did pretty well, though not as well as she would have liked. The boy who won her event was from downstate, Harrison I believe. He was just incredible. I think he will be a TV announcer or actor some day.
It was quite exciting to see her perform and even better to watch how she handled the disappointment of not placing among the top finalists. She and her best friend, who is her co-captain on he speech team, spent the rest of the weekend making plans for the next speech season.
And here's a laugher for you: last night I got asked for proof of age before I could buy a beer to go with my dinner. Made my night, I'll tell you.![]()
