Literotica Hits the Big Time!

An interesting study. The only really shocking thing is that I didn't find anything shocking. Usually, something like this breaks down my mental stereotypes. The study seemed to reinforce them.

Of course, this a rather small demographic of people bold enough to be on lit. It may not translate to the rest of the world.

I found the word counting as useless trivia. It was the breakdown of the male/female/ages that was most interesting.

This ain't the first time we've been psychoanalyzed. Usually it's some student doing a research paper. Unless this guy had access to the database of personal information from the site, his data is off. He has no way of knowing which writers are really what they claim and which are not. Not to mention ages. How many lied about their age one way or another.

Another halfassed survey with too many variables in limbo. Looks pretty though.

Why would anyone lie on an erotic internet site

"Older men are more romance-focused than older women. They like writing about Romance and Loving Wives. So it seems, as people get older, women end up being kinkier than men."

While this may be true, I don't think they understand what Loving Wives is about.

Didn't read the article. It wanted me to fill out a questionnaire before I could open it. That's a no go.

I was interested if it separated the story files in any way, especially straight and the different categories of gay. I would expect the most popular words to be different by category.

they all do!

And we all write the strict literal truth, don't we?
Oh; hang on,
This site's full of fiction, right ?

PS. A "red top" newspaper is generally regarded as being a fairly unreliable source of information, here in the UK. We just tend to note that there was a story, not that it was accurate.
A bit like 'Fox', I gather.

Pretty accurate regarding nonhuman and several of the categories.

I'm surprised that there wasn't much mention of incest at all. Maybe it's too much of a touchy subject, understandably.

It was also interesting to learn that 'cock' gets mentioned way more than 'vagina' or 'pussy.'

Interesting you bring that up. After Christmas, PornHub had a press release that at least one MSM outlet I know picked up. They detailed holiday usage stats as well as popular searches. Incest themes were at the top of the list.

Someone felt it was newsworthy.

If you scroll the page just a hair, you are also given the option of "No thanks" and get taken immediately to the article. You jumped too quick.

Yes there are category and demographic break outs along with some rather cool word clouds.
