Lit-togethers...

Yeah. You are certainly not alone in this. Camping out never does draw in the crowds. Those of us who know and love the woods can certainly plan a camping excursion while we are there, for later.

I should like to point out that the T goes to Lowell, which, while not exactly Springfield, is certainly out toward that direction. Lowell has the amazing dark Satanic mills and a culture of folkie bars. Plus Lowellhenge, an attraction few have seen. Lowellhenge is a henge entirely surrounded by water, specifically the canal. ;)

I do camp, but it is not my preference. I have done it many, many years, both with my family and as a Girl Scout Leader. For my own comfort I enjoy Hotels. :)

I am made acutely uncomfortable by your 'mentality' remarks. They also don't seem to have much to do with the rest of the discussion.
I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, just stating an observation that my family and I have made...I've lived here most of my life and my dad is born and bred...I don't know if it's a New England thing in specific but a majority of New Englanders seem to share it...Actually I'll withdraw that for people from Connecticut, since I've had to argue on more than a few occasions that 'Connecticut is part of New England'...

As for relivence, I know that in my case it tends to mean I'm histant to go much Beyond the Albany area, even though it could mean closer than many parts of New England (and I'm pretty geographically centered in NE)...For example, it would take me about as much time to get to Bar Harbor, ME as it would Syracuse, NY...Yet I would have to think long and hard about going to Syracuse while Bar Harbor would barely register a second thought...

Accommodations in Boston are expensive, but the T runs out quite a way. When I go to Boston, I can stay in Danvers or Saugus or Revere, where the hotels are much cheaper, and just ride the T to get to town.
Quite true on all of that...And it's something I will be looking into as well...Partly, I suppose it would depend on how many we'd lose and how many we'd gain...kinda clinical I know, but sometimes that's how these things are determined too...

Personally, I'd been thinking of Springfield or Albany more due to the people who'd be interested in driving from the other northeast states (Magica being one of those)...And Thee has also mentioned driving distance...Transportation could certainly be arranged from Boston as we have a van and a car at our disposal :)...

What month are we talkin'?
Well, at the moment we've been talking late Springish 2008, but we haven't finalized...

Well, then this is 'way in the future. Suddenly we have tons of time to discuss this. Right.

Okay, Albany if folks can make it there, I'm hip.

But could we not have a Lowell one, perhaps, say, this summer? June-ish, July-ish?

Lowellhenge could use the publicity. And Boston is a T ride away.

I'll be in Labrador camping during a lot of August, but this fall is a possibility for Lowell/Boston as well.

Well, I dun heard that some of the people around Chicago are going to meet up again simply because they live near each other...and that certainly can be done as well...:)

It's an 8 hour drive for me, I think.

I want to go back - as soon as possible!

:)
