Anyway, I would suggest someone (not me because I am not as familiar to the area as I once was) to list a few places that are convenient to MD, DC, and VA; then asses which places, by voting, that people could meet at or would be accessible to the general. Once that is done we can establish a date and time.

Wait a cotton picking minute! How am I supposed to choose a place that appeases to the general attendees as much as possible? I have just returned to the Metro area after a 10 year hiatus and so much has changed. The formula for picking a place, absent from the date and time, to asses the most worthy and appealing place. I would have to know the general location of the attendee candidates, the style in places they like to frequent, a place that is conducive to meetings, which will be open, but secluded enough so that we could gather and talk without including the whole establishment, considerations for budgets of the attendee candidates, etc.

In DC I know of a place by sight that is underground, near Mount Vernon, between K & L I believe. All, I can recall is it's near the circle and the bar is underground. There are some decent pool halls that provider happy hour morsels and a full bar in DC and Arlington or Capital City Brewing Co. I prefer low key neighborhood joints to Old Ebbitt Grill, but that's just my preferences. I don't know much about MD, save for Chevy Chase and Baltimore.

Ideas, comments, suggestions, complaints?

That's quite subjective for you to state. It is a meeting of Lit people in the area and there should not be a prerequisite or the ideals of a beauty contest. I don't take too much stock in meeting events because think the pressure or the misrepresentation that this portal means it's all about sex or hooking up per se. The more people that show up the better because it would make a nice group gathering and to be able to share and hang out as a mass, but by all means I hope the intention is not just about thinking that one will meet up and get some play at this event. Maybe, but most likely not. Meeting people and relating to them, beyond the screen, would be a fantastic way to bridge how we socialize beyond the keyboards.

Just my thoughts.
