I was listening to Radio 4's Book Club programme this afternoon. They played an excerpt of the winning entry for this year's BBC Young Writer Award. I don't know if it is accessible outside the UK, but have a listen if you can access it, and while you're listening bear in mind that this was the work of a 14 year old boy!

I'll eat my hat if this lad doesn't turn out to be the next Ian McEwan.

Skinning, by Brennig Davies

EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention, it's read by Sir Ian McKellan (that's Magneto to fans of the X-Men movies ;))

Very well written, though I argue that Sir Ian McKellen could read it backwards and still make it sound grand.
