Why does the telephone company charge me $3 to keep my number unlisted?
Wouldn't it make sense to charge me $3 to list my number, seeing as how all the ink being used costs more than that?

I don't know why though. Although I suppose that the amount off effort involved in taking you out of the phone book might incur a cost.
